Nothing like the Prodigal Sons: The Odd Couple actually play as themselves.

Ok, good. I had forgotten about the initial free win on Prince. So we can expect barb warriors from T30 onward and if we're lucky a barb city to begin our backfill on the foodless greenway to our west/south beginning T35.

Also, I never realized the AI got such a massive boost vs. barbs/animals. Thanks for putting that table up, Gaspar.

Good thought, especially since we won't settle there for a while. I think if copper is down there, we might just tech Archery, put Skirms in play and ignore that area until all the good stuff is settled. Only downside to that is we'll want to get that island settled earlyish for TR purposes. Horse will be too important, so if its down there I think we'll have to settle it. We'll need chariots for barb duty and scouting.

Well, the Civilization wiki is possibly the worst major game wiki in existence, but some assurance is better than none. lol

It would be a 2.0 lion vs a 2.3 scout by the way.

So Irina survived, as expected:

Further exploration gave us this:

If you look really closely, you can see Gavagai's borders, or you can use the culture view to confirm:

Noble and I discussed the situation for a bit and are pretty happy with the hill plant. We think we'd like to have a reasonable demarcation line in the dead middle and try and keep any aggressive plants to the water area, which we know Gavagai hasn't even scouted yet. Given that he went SE away from us, its entirely possible his scout is dead before he even gets a chance to look at it. That's the hope anyway.

I decided this setup was probably superior, even if it is 2 images rather than one. Welcome to suggestions, of course.

Use the area between "Population" and the number, flush with the bottom of the image. You'll overlap some of the text in the later stats but we know that Imports follows Exports.

Scout moves E/SE next? My way-too-early-to-tell dotmap thinks that a second city 1E of the lake would lock down the northern border decently, but this is a very conservative location when we may be able to carve a bit more by being aggressive in settling. The conservative 1E lake location assumes a city on the GHF SE of the sheep and hopefully something else decent in the lake city's BFC while grabbing a couple of FPs. If we do tech Archery we can be pushy with our early city locations against Gavagi (Darius: won't beat us to early city locations, Jags: not scary, no jungle in sight). It would be nice to deprive him of access to those FP tiles with his FIN bonus on his early cottages. Or, we can move N/NE and try to get sight on his capital on the following turn and then loop back around for closer scouting.

Last thought, have we written out the micro plan? I don't recall seeing something super specific after we simmed out the start a few times and I don't want to reread the 65 awesome posts of how you guys ranked me higher than Xenu. neenerneener

If we murder Kuro, it will make the name shorter and it will fit better. This is in part suggested because of PYFT issues early in pbem29g:

There is a not totally rational part of me that thinks that the save has still been with Kuro longer than Sian's number above since the game ended, even though he was replaced by Dazed early on. Really, any reason is good enough to kill Kuro. Shorten your name, man! twirl

We're planning to defog Gavagai's capital first before moving SE.

Micro plan:
Farm wheat, then camp ivory then cottage the flood plainses. Grow on warrior and 1t of granary working wheat then 1 flood plains then ivory to size 4. Build a 5t worker then a settler which gets whipped after we swap to Slavery, overflowing into a granary. Second worker roads to new city.

I could just cut Kuro off, its not like his score is all that important.

Its probably a good idea to revisit the microplan since the 1st city is almost assuredly going near the floodplains. That might mean we should reset the worker-settler order if we don't actually need the second worker before the settler or more likely that we'll want to revisit our worker action plan to be a bit more "just-in-time." Either of you charming gents up to tweaking the sandbox? I feel like as the guy who does all the turn reports/lurker baiting, I should at least be off the hook for sandbox editing.

a 20:1 is another
NobleHelium
pretty sure current ratio is 1.5:1
Gaspar
post ratio might be 1.5:1
content ratio is 20:1
given that all of the content is the pregame stuff of which i did all
