I need someone to cover some turns for me from December 28th to January 2nd in PB13. I'll be away on a trip and I won't be able to play. Hopefully there's someone that is not globally spoiled and could help me in this situation, since my ded-lurker will be away too.
I'm playing Shaka of Greece, currently being on a war. Not sure if the war will last until there, but there's a chance it will. I can't promise to leave a detailed plan (game is advanced enough that it'd be a huge task), but I'll do my best to give at least some instructions, leave build queues, etc. I think my thread is decently reported in the last few turns, if you'd like to take a look at the situation.
Replacing someone in a Civ game is not exactly the best holiday plan, but I don't have any other option. Hopefully someone can help me.

Er, will anyone else need a pause over the holiday period? It might be reasonable to change the game to have a 300 hour turn timer from Xmas eve to 2/1/14.

When asked in the Tech Thread, a pause was discarded as an option. 300 hour turn timer is pretty much the same, isn't it?

Well if Sloww does have his new laptop on Monday, I am theoretically free to cover.

Oy! I remember someone (William?) floating a pause on general principles and getting no'd, I don't think we'd have issue pausing for five days if you'll be away as well at Wetbandit. If Krill is an acceptable fill in so much the better, of course.

Ichabod are you sure about Krill. He seems to have focused on hospice care lately and is even somehow linked to euthanasia providers.

I remember other people being in favor of a pausr. It's the freaking holidays, i think a week of being without pb13 won't derail anything. But forcing people to bow out will derail the game.

I was one of the ones speaking against a pause, but only in the sense that I wanted us to exhaust some avenues to find an acceptable stand-in before going for the default of a pause. I don't know about you guys, but the holidays is when I have more time to play Civ, not less, and I'd like the game to be rolling still if its at all possible.
If it's not, then of course I support a pause, but it should be a last resort, not the default option as soon as you're unable to play for a few days - not in a game with 16 other people remaining.
Krill seems like an ideal substitute.

Dhalphir volunteers to play for all the absent players.
