What's the actual time table for setting up Moai up there? Another 25 turns or so? I don't doubt that it's a better spot in a general sense, just that one of the cities on the Fin/Harry island could probably set it up quicker, which is a tradeoff to analyze. I'm not sure what you think about with this, though, but the Moai city turns into a reasonable production spot. That northern city is so far away from, well, mostly everything. I don't know much value there is to creating another good production city closer to the core of the empire from which units have less to travel to get to important spots.

I did see that WLP has 3LBs in his front city, which is disappointing to say the least. It's nothing that extra cats can't chew through until engineering, which I hope he isn't prioritizing.

He moved the longbows from that city, for whatever reason. There's only 2 spears there right now...

I considered the Moai on The Flying Horse. It has only 6 water tiles, which is very low, but it's a production city that could build it very fast. I think it's between this city and The Evening Boat, we can't wait for the new city to build it, like you said - game will be over by then. lol Maybe BridgeGojoAv could be a decent Moai spot too.

I'll post a WLP attack plan soon. Already have the screenshots, but I'm too tired right now. That attack will be the make or break of our game, so we need to plan it with care.

love the planning so far, good luck!

Yeah that's interesting he moved his LBs. I wonder if he fears an attack somewhere else. I was going to say that the Greek colors make the WEs look quite funky. crazyeye

Here's our new city of Eagle Mountain, which, unfortunately, will take a long time to get off the ground. I'll ferry a worker to chop that forest soon, for a faster barracks. I'll also bring a WB from another city.

Here's some initial planning for the attack on WLP. Here are some screenshots of his cities, I can see all of them except one, the most recent, which will be irrelevant to the war either way (because I'm confident it's not settled in the iron island, which could have value).

So, what can we tell about this screenshots.

1. WLP's land is very commerce and it's lacking in production. This shows in the demos and civstats, where WLP is constantly whipping. I really doubt he's whipping units, because most of those whips are more than 1-pop and it's hard to imagine someone 2-pop-whipping units at this mod, it's very inneficient. So, knights is the best time to attack for sure, because WLP will pass us in tech soon.

2. He doesn't have the HE built. That's a major production advantage for us.

3. WLP's land is divided in half by a big mountain range and an area without cities. On one side, the west, we have Turandot (capital) and Il Barbiere, plus some "irrelevant" cities. On the other, the east, we have Manon, William Tell, Don Giovanni and La Boheme, plus two irrelevant cities. That's a major advantage in the war to come (or, perhaps best said, a lack of disadvantage). We have a natural stopping point after our first wave of attacks. If we can capture/raze the east, WLP will be on the ropes. If you look carefully, Il Barbieri doesn't overlap much with Manon, so if we capture Manon, WLP won't have much of an offensive advantage against us. I think Manon could be a good target for a Culture Bomb, when we capture it.

4. The eastern cities can be divided in two groups, the EW (east-west) and the EE (east-east). The EE cities are hill cities - that's never good, but it's better than if the EW ones were on hills. The EE cities can be attacked by a 1-move stack, partially defended by a 2-moves stack going for the EW cities.

5. We can attack La Boheme from inside our borders, on the first turn of the war, with a 2-moves stack. We can position a 1-move stack on a tile next to Don Giovanni on the first turn of the war, from outside of WLP's view (I'm almost positive), if we have engineering.

What's the big plan? The plan is to attack the EW cities with a 2-moves stack, Knights and HAs, and the EE with a 1-move stack, mostly with wjat's left from the Slow war + reinforcements - mainly crossbows and WE + cats. I plan to capture La Boheme and Manon, while razing Hoffmann, with the 2-moves and capture William Tell and Don Giovanni with the 1-move stack. Die Walkure will also be razed, if possible. After that, we Culture Bomb Manon to get tiles away from Il Barbieri, especially some of those mountains for vision reasons. Besides, it'll help against likely counter attacks coming from WLP's core.

After that, we just defend for some time, reinforce the army and reassess.

The big question is: does WLP have a big catapult stack? Where's WLP power coming from? I'll try to figure out by demo reading. Someone around here has the power number formula?

If he has a catapult stack, we can very well get owned by his initiative, even with more powerful units. But, from what I can see, WLP has mostly defensive units, which is good. Knights are a constant raze threat, so if we can pin down WLP's defense in some city, we may be able to reach our objectives either way.

I'm considering going for alphabet and getting some spies to look for WLP's stack. It's a difficult task, due to spy nerf, but possible, I think. If WLP had catapults, I think he would have taken retep out already. If he hasn't done so yet, he's likely gunning for improved economy, not big armies.

This is a very important tile, the plains 2N 1W of Whitered Fields. It's the tile that allowsw us to attack La Boheme in the very first turn of the war. I'm watching the culture stat there, to make sure it'll be ours until la Boheme is too.

---

Anotehr big thing about the attack is that WLP doesn't have iron or IW. If we capture William Tell, we deny WLP of his only currently settled source of iron, making it not possible for him to get Pikes and Knights.

The other source is trickier to deny from him, but he curretly don't have it settled.

I'll probably have a trirreme or two on those waters to mess up WLP when the war starts. Blockades are allowed, right?

Units currently defending Don Giovanni, after the LBs were moved away.

I'll put a Sentry HA in the gold tile and move him in and out to the hill 1NW of WF, to see what WLP has on La Boheme, without showing him our Sentry unit.

As much as it pains me, razing Manon is also an option, depending on what the war looks like. It's a big hit for WLP, it makes that area no man's land and we can keep the other cities which are closer to us anyway.

Here's the power formula which is accurate to the best of my knowledge.

Interesting that he moved his LBs away, hopefully they stay away.
