Turn 146-147
Here's a few pictures from last turn, as well as little bit from the first chunk of this turn. The Battle of Cold Rocks I gave you the log yesterday so I won't do the usual blow-by-blow with full odds and whatnot, but it wasn't a particularly tough battle. Just 2 units. Easy. Second battle was a walk. Also, kind of ridiculous. Yes, that is the blue glow of UNUSED PROMOTIONS. Unbelievable. I know he's putting in minimum effort here, but I don't think this does the word minimum justice. No granary, but I'll take a forge in a hammer-heavy city. Here's the look at the two cities I mentioned: ------ So that leads us to this turn. I logged in for the battle of Smoke Slings. He's got a spear, axe, archer, chariot, and warrior on a hill. The Battle of Smoke Splicer Barrage Cat vs axe (5%) - lose (all units damaged, axe down to 2.9h) So our worst odds are 71%. C1 Knight vs Spear (71%) - lose (0.3H) Unfortunately we lost, and Nakor got himself a Great General in Imre Stand as a reward. What are the chances he actually uses it? Anyway, it definitely can't save him, but it could cost us a few units if he uses it wisely. From there, though, it was a romp. C1 Knight vs Archer (95%) - WIN (8.4h) C1 Knight vs axe (99%) - WIN (8.4h) C1 8.2h Knight vs chariot (99%) - WIN (3.0h) C2 7.2h Knight vs warrior (99%) - WIN (6.0h) That left just the redlined spear: C1 6.8h Knight vs redlined spear (99.9%) - WIN and capture Whenever I get some free time soon, I'll go through and start renaming our new cities. Well, we netted ourselves another granary: Curious - anyone happen to know how the game decides how many turns of revolt a city gets? It's really not important, just curious if anyone knows off the top of their heads. So, another successful turn. We've now taken 8 cities in 5 turns. Won't take any next turn, but on T149 we should be able to take 2 more. ![]() Here's a look at Sulara: So whatever Knights from this stack that are healthy enough to fight move up within range of Sulara to hit it on T147. We should use Shock on a couple of those Knights for Sulara. We can also spare 1 from the area around Cold Rocks. The two Zerks on boats can hit Imre on T149. So this turn let's rest our Knights in Cold Rocks, next turn move them into range, then on T149 we hit with Zerks and Knights combined on Imre. I still think we should keep Imre. Pindicator, you good with that? Then it's just a matter of razing his one last city east of Imre and Nakor is gone. So yes, I think we can complete an entire conquest in under 10 turns. Brutal.
Revolt turns depend solely on population size. I'm not sure exactly but I think it's size + 1 turns with a minimum of 3.

There are some errors (typos?) in that post but it provides the source so I guess it all works out. What it boils down to is: 1) After capturing the city, you get revolt turns if you own less than 75% of the city's culture. 2) If you are getting revolt turns, the formula is (in integer arithmetic): (3 + pop/2) * foreign culture / total culture e.g. if 25% of the city's culture is yours and it has 5 pop, then you get (3 + 2) * 75 / 100 = 3. Since in most cases your culture% will be zero, the basic thing to remember is just (3 + pop/2).
That was interesting Dave, I've never seen that before. Good to know, particularly the cultural threshold for no revolt.
