[Spoilers] Fintourist and Old Harry have nothing to see here

(December 19th, 2013, 10:31)Mardoc Wrote: You could go for D and try something really off the wall, like packing up your military onto boats and invading Nakor...

Forgot to lol about this. Since Nakor will be gone around the same time our ships would be leaving our ports maybe we could execute this plan in the hard mode and invade Ichabod, who is rival best in power or at least close to it..

Random comment about demos: We are currently 2nd in Crop Yield with ~330 while mack is leading with ~460. crazyeye And with no attractive targets for aggression that gap is only going to get bigger.. Scoopinhelium team will probably jump to same kind of figures as soon as the big cities that Nakor gave them come out of revolt. Eventually teams with more space such as Ichabod and Commodore will also run away from us.. alright

To be perfectly precise, it's the city that comes earlier in your city order (which you can see in trade screen, domestic advisor, or just going from one city screen to the next). Normally this is founding order, but if you lose a city, it will create a gap, and the next city you acquire will fill the gap.

Ah! That explains a lot from one of my other games. Thanks Seven thumbsup

Turn 147 starters

Thanks Ceil and 7 for clarification! So now we can start our GA happily with Vasco here: nod

We did the obvious civic changes:

Thanks to Vassalage the switch from OR to Pacifism actually brought us +10 gpt..

And as already advertised, this is of course what we are doing now everywhere:

We have 4 cities working 24 specialists and that will only increase during the coming turns. Below is the updated plan for Harry (I forgot that we had popped borders in Omdurman with a caste artist, which means that 1 less specialist turn is required):

In other news:
- Guilds will be our next tech. Should be finished eot 149 (3 turns with 30 % - 100 % - 100 % research)
- We are at the moment 3rd in score jive (behind mackoti-m_h and pindicooter-Nakor teams) We need to celebrate that quickly since it should be max 2 turns before dtay Libs Nationalism and then chops Taj... Although, because he can see that nobody else has teched paper there is a possibility that he could sandbag it and grab Astro or something..

Are there? Will there be? mischief That's a good question.. Actually this is exactly the question that causes me to lose my sleep.. rolleye Should we go all in now, in 15 turns, in 30 turns or beeline rifles or what. Our current opportunities do not seem promising at all, but still I am wondering if it is now as good as it gets.. And if it is now or never that we should be trying something crazy.. Currently we can still compare ourselves with everyone in the game, but mackoti's land lead is already starting to show and it's only a matter of few turns when scoopinhelium will also have crazy good demos. No matter how awesome domestic plans to we could manage to create, there is no way that it could compensate for the land difference even if mack and pindicooter would play with their left hand. In 50 turns it can well be that we are an era behind the leaders if we just stay put and work our land and that's not a nice vision..

We have such a difficult neighbor portfolio with suttree, ichabod, mackoti, dtay (and TBS) (and plako) that even if one of our neighbors would give us an opening, going for it will still be a huge gamble, because it would be an invitation to the other pals.. And yeah, none of our neighbors will be so asleep as m_h was and they surely have better ethics than Nakor. (Btw, what Nakor is doing is just unforgivable and I'm still totally pissed off despite the fact that it's all happening far away and we have enough to rant about in our own continent. I just could not imagine that something so pathetic could happen here in this crowd) shakehead

But yeah, there are some "wishful thinking" scenarios that could improve our chances. E.g. if one of our neighbors starts a war with someone else, fails miserably and we manage to organize a surprise attack. Or if mackoti pulls the trigger at suttree first, suttree cats mackoti's army to death (or at least causes big losses) and we take easy cities from one of them... And then dtay attacks TBSJ and we pile on TBS and take his island or backstab dtay.. Sounds realistic? please crazyeye Did not think so.. smoke In any case our clock is ticking..

So yeah, that all said, I'm happy to leave these big decisions to Old Harry as I leave for my travel crazyeye Let's see if Harry wants to whip our cities down, produces 50 knights and then flips a coin and chooses the target.. or if he wants to wait and hope for a better chance.. popcorn Oh boy, what if there is a wireless internet everywhere in Indonesia..

Turn 147

We found dtay's army. Oddly it's only catapults and artists. Perhaps he keeps his other units in a different city?

And it doesn't look like Lewyyn or Azza are going to take anything much from PindiNakor...

Here is what we're building with our golden age.

Demos and power - Mack is building a lot of power. Either us or Suttree are in trouble... scared

And I rolled the turn, at which point YMs golden age ends and dtay discovers Liberalism. Looking at techs YM have paper too. yikes

I thought we were going to be prebuilding knights via horse archers? I guess I've misunderstood the timings ...

Basically, the turn you finish Guilds, any HA you would complete that turn are already in the build queue get turned into knights. So you don't want to build any HA until you are about to finish Guilds, the time line with starting them is city (and production/tech) dependent.

I think you have the timings right THH, but atm we're stumped for where we'd actually use a flotilla of knights, so there isn't the rush I thought there would be. We will need knights for defense in ten turns if Mackoti keeps building power at the rate he is, so we will build them, but we have ten turns of peace in the mean time so we might as well finish off the economic builds we were on.

Sorry to the lurkers. I imagine this is all a bit disappointing after the big talk of attacking Mackoti. But I don't think we have a choice.
