Are you using two monitors? If you're in windowed mode and part of the game window is hanging over the edge of one monitor onto the other, it can cause the screenshots to fail.

Snippingtool never fails, though. (If you're running Windows press start and type snippingtool). Crop and save at one time. Seems fast to me. Maybe not as fast as just pressing print screen, but it never fails.

I'm only on one monitor. It's just a bit strange to be honest. Thanks for the snipping tool info, I'll have a play around and see if I prefer that and windowed mode or print screen and fullscreen.

More scouting. Even if it was a plains hill the area is currently looking unappetising. I've either scouted the wrong direction or Xenu really wants me to get an early IW. Hell even southwest has some jungle visible.

Turn 4

Looks like I've lost my early post lead. Catwalk has a dedlurker now, so I doubt that's going to boomerang back. I guess I should concentrate on winning the real game smile.

I definitely did wander the wrong way at the start. A mostly watery city with only crabs of its own does not make an appetising second city location. It could possibly end up being Moai though. My Borders pop EOT, so lots more scouting info then.

We got a couple of turns in today. Yay.

As you can see my culture scouting has actually provided some viable second city sites. The current front runner for second city is the big C in the southeast corner of the map. I'c choose big C over the faster starting plains hill for several reasons.

1) Less far to road. My worker turns are pretty limited at this point, particularly with the need to produce a workboat.
2) Access to the 3 food lakes. This is a fairly minor consideration all told, as it only effects the city in the distant future, however not using them slightly offends me.
3) Can be used to help incubate up to three capital cottages. This is particularly important because my happycap looks to be low for a while.

Having said all that are preferable city would be in the northwest or southwest corners of the capital. This is because a number of my worker turns will be concentrated around that area early game, with mines chops and hopefully a couple of grassland river cottages. Shifting my limited early worker to the southwest doesn't help me kick my commerce in the pants.

The scout will head over to these areas to check out resource availability next. I'd like to explore deeper, but I think that discovering the best second city site is the top priority. My deep scouting network will be expanded later.

The picture also shows the possible discovery of an island. I need to see if the GLH is banned, although with Bismarck, Mehmed, Huayana and Louis in the game any window I have for getting it is going to be tight. I'll need forest help. A Pyramids build needs the same thing.

Great Lighthouse is banned. That's probably a good thing.

Found a grassland cow in the northwest. I could potentially put a second city up there. I'd be functioning on very little commerce though, because I'd have to go AH after BW and before pottery. I'll have a picture for you tomorrow, I forgot to take one today. I also discovered that my new laptop can play skyrim, so have been been more interested in slaying dragons then debating tech choice today :P.

Animal husbandry is obviously the one right choice if you're going to try riding one of those beasts. If you want to kill it, though, Archery is highly, HIGHLY recommended. hammer

lol

I've only killed one so far, but hitting it with Palpatine like lightning powers worked quite well. Hmmm, guess an electricity beeline is in order. Gotta have dragon defenses.

Pictures as promised.

A lion has been spotted. I'm hoping his new name will spur him to go and kill off any bears. I hate bears.
Scout will drop down to the southwest to look at my final potential second site. Then I guess he'll scout deep continuing in that direction. Maybe he'll get lucky (or the rest won't have bear killing lions) and make it round for circumnav.
