We got a couple of turns in today. Yay.
As you can see my culture scouting has actually provided some viable second city sites. The current front runner for second city is the big C in the southeast corner of the map. I'c choose big C over the faster starting plains hill for several reasons.
1) Less far to road. My worker turns are pretty limited at this point, particularly with the need to produce a workboat.
2) Access to the 3 food lakes. This is a fairly minor consideration all told, as it only effects the city in the distant future, however not using them slightly offends me.
3) Can be used to help incubate up to three capital cottages. This is particularly important because my happycap looks to be low for a while.
Having said all that are preferable city would be in the northwest or southwest corners of the capital. This is because a number of my worker turns will be concentrated around that area early game, with mines chops and hopefully a couple of grassland river cottages. Shifting my limited early worker to the southwest doesn't help me kick my commerce in the pants.
The scout will head over to these areas to check out resource availability next. I'd like to explore deeper, but I think that discovering the best second city site is the top priority. My deep scouting network will be expanded later.
The picture also shows the possible discovery of an island. I need to see if the GLH is banned, although with Bismarck, Mehmed, Huayana and Louis in the game any window I have for getting it is going to be tight. I'll need forest help. A Pyramids build needs the same thing.
