t41 - And I shall call him Steve
Moderately more interesting turn in that we built a worker, giving us 100% more things to do. Nothing new on the foreign relations front, but we did name our workers - going with Grant and Bush, presidents that were in office during the scandals commemorated in our cities. Grant went to start roading towards the new city. More on that choice in a moment. Bush finished the Sheep pasture then sat down in it and read to nobody in particular about his new pet goat.![wink wink](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/wink2.gif)
Whiskey Ring started on a Granary. The current build projection for the capital is Granary > Warrior > Settler. BW is due EOT42. That's important and we'll note a bit more about it shortly. Here's the lay of the current land:

And here's the demos. Small power increase for Warren G, almost certainly a warrior.

Here's the discussion Noble and I had over the past two turns. Its not hilarious, but it does a decent justice of where we are in the game right now.

Quote:Gaspar: anyway, loading the turn
hmm
who's sockpuppet is Kanye?
Goreripper?
NobleHelium: no...
the first one is probably xenu
second one might be boldly or maybe brick
Gaspar: either way
im in favor of our thread being invaded by sockpuppets
ok
absolutely nothing to do
g's warrior still healing
NobleHelium: is the warrior still there
ok
any global events
power graph or anything
Gaspar: no power spike for g
NobleHelium: are we still even on EP
Gaspar: no new events
still even on EP
no new contacts
man we need a scouting unit
damn you serdoa and your horse placement
NobleHelium: i don't understand pindicator's post
Gaspar: north west is kanye and kim kardashian's baby's name
do you live under a boulder or just a large rock?
anything else you want to know before i end turn?
NobleHelium: i live under a reshapeable styrofoam rock
Gaspar: lol
NobleHelium: nah i don't think there's anything
Gaspar: the new worker does what next turn?
NobleHelium: uhhh
well that's not really decided
because we haven't decided where to settle next
how many warriors do you think gavagai has right now
or other military units
how many customers do you get after christmas btw
do you get lots of people trying to use their gift cards
Gaspar: well
NobleHelium: or return things
Gaspar: presumably gavagai has 5 pop points
we see one warrior
safe to assume he has mining, wheel hunting
that 11k
we have 16k
and that's more than him
we know he cant have BW then
so presume AH
since he has sheep at cap
NobleHelium: well we know the sheep is hooked
so yes AH
Gaspar: that makes 13k
he cant have more than 1 more warrior
and even tahts pushing it
the cfc post on the power graph is easily my most visited civ related page thats not rb
NobleHelium: ok
so i think that means
we can settle towards the gold?
i.e. near the pig
Gaspar: i think thats the natural choice
NobleHelium: all right
Gaspar: i feel like we should settle on the jungle
well
10t until the borders cover the pig
which is about when the next city gets settled i guess
just feels far I guess
isn't actually far
NobleHelium: it's probably a little slower but yes
the city that is
I KNOW ITS SO BAD
Gaspar: our start is fucking awful
we know this
i dont think its our fault per se
but its definitely awful
NobleHelium: well i couldn't come up with a better start
maybe novice or seven could have
Gaspar: me either
i tried more than i ever have in any other game
NobleHelium: should have done a krill and randomly wandered to the middle sea
Gaspar: lol
well
let me posit something that might affect short term micro
i think we're going to have copper at the capital
NobleHelium: that would be awesomesauce
what tile do you think it would be on
Gaspar: id say roughly 80% chance
theres no other way seven could have eliminated retep
had to be impis
NobleHelium: ok
i agree with that logic
Gaspar: my guess is the plains tile SW of the city tile
other option is plains tile SE of ivory
but the first option makes more sense
since it would have been easy to move away from the tile SE of ivory
but the greater point is obviously if we have it, getting that yield in play has to be priority
so wherever we put this worker next turn
NobleHelium: well
Gaspar: should be able to get to the copper shortly
NobleHelium: is it 2t bw at EOT
to bw
Gaspar: yes
NobleHelium: the game is so fucking slow
can't remember anything
Gaspar: its unreal
ive lost like 50% of interest because of turnpace
its insane that these turns are all taking 24 hrs
24+ hours actiallyy
NobleHelium: ok
forgot we trailed off
but let me pull up my last sim run
pasture finishes next turn right?
Gaspar: end of next turn iirc
NobleHelium: what is end of next turn
can you check
Gaspar: yeah EOT41
NobleHelium: improvements cannot finish eot >>
it finishes next turn
which means we can work the tile next turn
Gaspar: pitboss throws me off
NobleHelium: so we'll work the pasture at plame affair and then the cottage at whiskey ring
Gaspar: or rather i should say simulturns throws me off
NobleHelium: ok
looks like what i did was
put 1/2 turn into a road 2E of whiskey
then cottage 1S
whiskey builds a granary working the pfh while growing to 5
now obviously the tile 2E of whiskey is out of range of SW of the cap
but i'm not really convinced that the capital is definitely there
the only tile that's in range of SW of the cap is the grass hill, and we could mine that tile for a turn, but i'd prefer the cottage to the mine
Gaspar: im not convinced its there either, just think its likely
well
we could also just finish the road
we'll see copper the turn after the road finishes
NobleHelium: well either way if copper appears SW of the cap we would need the road finished, put a turn into the mine and then get to the copper
Gaspar: i mean
it has to be one of those two tiles, doesn't it?
NobleHelium: it could easily be one of the grass tiles
or maybe it's not in the bfc, but slightly outside
Gaspar: i doubt that
NobleHelium: did seven have a second city before he killed retep
Gaspar: i dont know, but the timing really doesn't work imo
i assume seven had at least 2 impis, i highly doubt he went in with one
NobleHelium: okay well i see no city foundings as far as the civstats logs goes
anyway
i think copper could easily be in one of the grass tiles
why wouldn't it be possible
Gaspar: im not saying its impossible
just unlikely
NobleHelium: well you just said "it has to be"
Gaspar: sorry for being imprecise
what i meant is "it seems like its very very likely to be"
NobleHelium: i don't see why the plains tiles are more likely than the grass ones
it could be the grass hills too
anyway i sent you two files
one is the next turn
and the other is my current end sim
Gaspar: ill take a look at them tomorrow, im heading to bed very shortly here - have to be up @8:30
NobleHelium: all right
Gaspar: i mean i guess the more i think about it
it really could be anywhere
if serdoa was not paying attention enough to let gavagai have a 3 food capital
he might not have thought a lot about copper placement
like
im virtually positive its in the bfc
but it could be on any non-forested tile in the bfc
NobleHelium: yes i agree it's probably in the bfc
but beyond that i'm not confident of much
Gaspar: well, and the fp obviously
hell
it could be in the lake for all the attention he paid to our shitty shitty start
NobleHelium: well if it's in the lake i'm quitting and booting him from 56 so you can play :P
Gaspar:
that seems reasonable
NEXT TURN
NobleHelium: gavagai logged in but didn't play
Gaspar: you have a few?
ill log in
NobleHelium: yeah i'm not doing anything
it's annoying that gavagai hasn't played though
Gaspar: well, if you want we can talk the turn out and then one of us can play after we see him play
NobleHelium: i guess he's not a threat for the moment given our assessment yesterday
Gaspar: but that
his war is still healing
no new contacts for either of us
NobleHelium: ok
well i thought about what you said
it makes sense to finish the road 2E of the cap
Gaspar: no world events
NobleHelium: because the copper could very well be under the tile we're planning to cottage
Gaspar: gavagai had a small power increase
NobleHelium: it'll cost us a cottage turn if we end up with no copper but that's worth the risk
Gaspar: almost certainly a warrior
what are we naming workers after?
seems like now that we have two we should start that
NobleHelium: i dunno
Gaspar: i agree with everything you just said, btw
presidents? vice presidents? return to the nato alphabet?
i think the diablo spells thing we used last time was unnecessarily complicated
NobleHelium: i don't remember half the vice presidents
Gaspar: no but we are on the internet
NobleHelium: well if we do presidents how do we determine which ones to use
Gaspar: well
we could start with ones we've named cities after their scandals
but eventually workers will outnumber cities, at least for a while
and there are some presidents who we'll never touch
but that could be a jumping off point
so the current workers would be grant and bush, or grant and w, if we want to distinguish between the two bushes
NobleHelium: let's do grant and bush
we
we'll skip the other bush
Gaspar: ok
NobleHelium: i think the two of them add up to one worker anyway
Gaspar: were definitely never going to have 40+ workers, so I think we're fine skipping a few presidents
we'll name the new worker grant and the original worker bush, since those are the cities they're near8:29 PM
NobleHelium: all right
Gaspar: ok
so grant roads 2e and bush finishes pasture, yes?
NobleHelium: yes
NobleHelium: yes
plame works the pasture
Gaspar: plame works sheep
NobleHelium: whiskey works the cottage, resources, and pfh building a granary?
Gaspar: whiskey takes cottage back and works it over the forest
yeah
NobleHelium: ok
Gaspar: the governor agrees with us
so
granary > warrior > settler?
or just granary > settler
NobleHelium: it was granary > warrior > settler yeah
we'll need mp in the capital and one warrior to go with the settling party
that does mean that we'll only have one warrior at plame
Gaspar: so the warrior in plame should probably come home?
NobleHelium: well we don't need to do that yet
we can keep him there for now
capital has 6 happy 5 unhappy right now right?
Gaspar: yeah, i guess the gavagai threat is possible enough that 2 warriors in the area makes sense
correct
NobleHelium: ok
so it'll be fine until size 6 which is right when we start the settler
Gaspar: we really need another worker
though theres no squeezing one until post-settler, i dont think
NobleHelium: we'll see where copper appears
Gaspar: yeah
sometime monday, barring more annoying pauses
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
