RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Gandhi of Korea (Broker33 & plako)

I did check our status, but didn't play our turn. We've some big desicions to make. Bear killed our warrior and there aren't any copper visible. Work boat will be ready in 2 turns. We'll had to now decide what to research. Main candidates:
* IW - We need iron, if Rome has it
* AH - Fastest route to Writing + reveal horses
* Hunting - improve Fur + 1 step closer to Archery before barbs start causing trouble
* Buddhism/Polytheism - Religions are still available
* Wheel - Go towards writing through pottery

Currently I think Hunting or AH would be best. Horses or Archery will keep us safe from barbs although they don't help much against Praets.

We also had to decide what to produce and how. One alternative is to whip WB next turn, put the overflow to Worker as well as the chop that is coming in 3-4 turns and build warrior while growing with crab+wheat. We should've enough hammer so that worker is finished after the chop. After reaching size 3 or 4 we could start Settler and put 2 chops on it and then whip the rest.

Whosit sent us response. They want to renegotiate our deal. I'm getting tired of this. They don't offer us anything worthwhile and exect us to just accept.

Quote:Dear Broker33 and plako,

I have received your latest offer and I thank you for your willingness to consider Rome's position. The agreement is looking very good. However, I would like to ask for just one more change. I hope that it will not be a problem.

I have a better understanding of the lands surrounding my capital now than I did when we began negotiations, especially regarding the area to the northwest of Koumakan. There I have found a potential city location that I believe is critical for Rome's territorial integrity. I would like to stress that this city location is not in the disputed area; it is north of the river. The one problem is that its location conflicts with the location 1NW of the Silk that we have proposed for you to settle.

Now, I realize that when I settle at this location it would put you in an inconvenient position, to say the least. Therefore, I hope that I can make some additional concessions that may even things out. At the moment, Rome is small and has little to offer, but here are my thoughts:

*Rome will gift you a resource as soon as we have trade routes.

*Rome will agree to NOT settle the designated location north of the Crabs.

*It should go without saying, but aside from this city, Rome will not expand any further to the west. Future expansion will be to the east.

Again, I apologize for forcing us to revise the treaty once again. I regret that I cannot put more on the table at the moment, but if you can think of anything else for Rome to offer, please let me know. I hope that you do not feel that Rome is cheating you. Rather than settling this city without your knowledge, I bring this issue up in advance in order to deal with Korea in good faith. Hopefully we can come to a satisfactory agreement.

It is pretty hard to answer when we don't know what you're offering. What is this mystery resource and what is the spot you want exactly?

Preliminarily this doesn't sound reasonable deal. e.g. offering resource when you can still attack us on turn 66 doesn't sound very appealing. It might even be that we don't have writing at that time.

I made the desicions. Started Hunting. We can use the happiness/commerce from the Fur and this speeds up AH.

I also whipped WB. Next turn overflow should go to worker or settler and the we should produce couple of warriors while growing. Although chop should go to worker or settler.

I edited the message also and sent it.

good choices. No copper is bad guess hunting AH is the way to go. I am flying home today so I will have a chance to look at things closer.

I decided to put overflow and chop hammers to settler. Settler will have 59 hammers after this turn. I suggest we use 3 turns to build warrior (we'll reach size 3 meanwhile) and then build settler for 1-2 turns and whip again for 1 pop. After that we should grow to size 5 while building warriors and/or barracks. Militarily we're very thin. Only 1 warrior. I think we should find the site 1S from Wheat close-by. It is safest possible and we might manage with just 1 warrior + the one coming right after the whip.

I just looked closer at his note. I dont like it I think we should stay with the original settling agreement and settle that site first to prevent this city he wants. Too bad we cant scout it.

I am sorry, I did not mean to be unclear. I do not have an abundance of resources at the moment, which is why I did not specify a resource in my last letter. However, based on what I have now, I imagine that I can offer either a health resource, such as Rice or Cattle. If need be, I can part with my only Gold resource.

The specific site I am hoping to reach is three tiles north of the Silk in question, and one tile east of some cattle. It will slot in perfectly with the borders of my capital (once both cities expand their borders), and will be the limit of my westward expansion.

I am not certain that writing is necessary for a resource trade, though it is possible that I am mistaken. My second city could build a road connecting to the nearby river and, if one of us has learned to Sail the waters, I believe that trade could be conducted that way. Assuming, of course, that your own capital of Seoul has access to the coast, which seems to be the case so far as I can tell.

Again, I wish to do my best to make a fair offer, so if you have additional suggestions, please let me know.

Best regards,

Whosit, Ruler of the Interim Imperium

I'm not totally against this. Assuming we get sufficiently long NAP and they accept 2 cities between us one in the hill and another 1S from the city3. They are close and there is no food resource, but there is so many riverside tiles that it would be at minimum decent city.

Ok try to make 1 automatic extenstion a condition of the change. I bet $1MM he refuses to do that. I still think he plans on rushing us with praets. He knows that area we dont. We can see hills and with cow could be a production site or maybe he see's metal.

Dont know but I agree if we can get a NAP extention out of it wouldnt be all bad.

Worker continues mining. Hunting ready next turn. What about next tech. AH maybe?

IMO he doesn't have BW yet based on his power graph.

Either AH or IW we need something. If we have to fight I would prefer not do it with archers smile I vote AH
