Reminds me of this guy
Nice one, Oxy. Looks like old upright citizens brigade stuff. What is it?

My second city is here. Everybody cheer.
As you can see from the screenshot I am going for hunting next on the way to AH. It's going to be 10 turns before I can start improving the cows, so I can take the time to pick up hunting on the way. This means I: a) Get the prereq discount, which is nice. b) Can produce spears, well, when I hook copper. Spears are important because I haven't scouted out my close opponents, they are unlikely to settle up on me because of my jungly boundary, but they could still send a chariot-a-wandering. In games with greens or any game with commodore it's always good to have the option to fight off chariots. I found something glittery of BaII's.
I think I missed one turn report but little actually happened in it. I corrected my previous error and saved up some gold so I could research at 100% rather than 90.
Here's the domestics. I finish the warrior in the capital next turn. Unfortunately, for the excitable l'il blighter he won't be able to go a-rovin'. He's got the delightful job of keeping the population happy. Or at least forcing them to put on a happy face when out in public. The interesting thing in this screenshot is that island is still looking islandy. This could still be a trick, as there are a hell of a lot of lakes on this map. But if it is an island, some early intercontinental trade routes looks a sweet deal. I don't even have to hack out jungle for it. Here's a more interesting screenshot. I've met Azza, he sent his warrior out to meet me, but being the shy sort I decided to step around him. I assume he'll move onto the forest this turn, I'll move my scout under him so he can't declare war and kill me instantly. I have peaceable intentions, but I don't want my scout to die. More longterm, I'm hoping that this is Azza's second city, because it is very close to BaII and if that's his capital I might have to worry more about people settling in my jungle. On the otherhand if it is his second city he's had it at least five turns because borders seem to have popped. So my slow start still seems slow ![]() To conclude demographics screens are pretty dull at this point, but I am joint first in crop yield. Hooray for me. ![]() Granary is next up in the capital. I'll have that up before reaching size 5 with the aid of a chop. This does leave me short stacking on warriors, so the second city gets the joys of popping out at last one more warrior before helping itself to some food storage. Looks like third ring borders here, so that means it's Azza's capital. Azza does have a thing for plains hills, so he might have moved in a bit closer to BaII if he spotted one. The distance does increase the need for me to scout closer to home though. Azza's warrior is wandering towards BaII, I'd assume it's just a scout rather than an advance guard for a pink dot.
Slightly irritating barbarians are here. They are actually quite annoying, because my best units are currently warriors and I'm not exactly overflowing with them. If he makes a beeline for my city and doesn't suicide into my warrior on the way, I may have to whip a warrior in Utrecht. The warriors +25% city defense bonus makes, holding the city with just one warrior a bit of a dicey prospect.
Just to check, if the warrior has moved to the plains hill southwest of Utrecht, and I then whip during the turn. The process of unit production does go: My Warrior Produces> Barb Movement. Azza did move to start with, his capital (bowled) was in the top 5 cities screen and it was founded in 3960bc. He also doesn't seem to have to worry about an invasion of panthers.
My scout gets to battle a wolf in between turns. I should have moved to the forest, I was a bit too greedy with vision there. This'll probably mean my brave explorer will have to spend several turns healing.
Azza has got the traditional inappropriately tight hug with his second city. Nothing much is happening domestically, although I assume that barbarian is still homing in on Utrecht. My scout survived with 0.3 health. I moved him to the forested hill for the +95% defense bonus. Unfortunately, that means he gets a fifty-fifty brawl with another furry creature. Granary chop is coming in next turn. I'll then grow to six and triple whip a settler. My southern worker is cottaging in order to give my second city something to grow on. The city itself is pushing out a warrior posthaste (helpfully the barb seems to be slightly lost in the wilderness), then I'll probably one whip a worker because my other two will be up north at city 3. Zanth and BaII have both revolted to slavery since I last logged in. I expect third cities from them in the next turn or so. |
