Rambling thinking out loud post to see if we really think the Oracle is winnable.
Original pie in the sky Oracle plan before Gavagai decided Seven should win this game: Our early estimate was Oracle on T65. Now it looks like EoT 76. At the time I was doing the sandbox run, I believe we would have one person who could have possibly beaten us to PH based on when Hinduism was founded. Am I remembering that correctly, Hinduism was founded before we invented Buddhism? Other teams likely do not know we're having issues with Gavagai trying to go all gangster on us because we haven't met them and there is no C&D to sift through, so if they weren't ahead of [whoever got the religions], they're unlikely to chase the Oracle, knowing they are already at a disadvantage. So, it is most likely a two team race for the Oracle, if the Hindus are even building it. But, we've had to delay several turns on starting it, so we could have lost our lead over the rest of the field, but I'm making the assumption that a rational player would see that teams had already taken the two early religions, could beat his own team to the Oracle, and thus would put precious early beakers elsewhere, giving up the Oracle. Whoever got Hinduism could well be ahead of us, so two questions: Do we have an idea of who got Hinduism and when (I'm sure this has been covered already, sorry) and how likely would we peg that player (reputation/meta) to chase this particular wonder? It also depends on leader traits and the civ, but that comes with whoever founded Hinduism. Hey, nice of me to ask these questions after the build is already in production, right? ![]()
Gavagai is going to tech CoL after Priesthood and try to flood us with units from altars. I'm calling it now.

I believe we narrowed Hinduism down to Mikehendi or 2metraninja and it fell 2t before we got Buddhism, IIRC. Of the two, I rate Mike as the greater Oracle threat because I have to assume 2metra would be after GLH. I actually think it would be smarter to go Monarchy and let his food-gorged cap grow to 10+ cottages and put all those Ancient Era units he has to use.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
I agree that 2metra would go for GLH with Roosevelt. If Mike is the other, he's PHI/FIN, and I wouldn't peg that combo as needing to be particularly aggressive toward building the Oracle. So, basically this is no news, but not bad news. Which in this game, is actually good for us. So a leisurely T76 Oracle build should be fine. Famous last words...

t70 - Let them eat Pigs
T70 was relatively uneventful. There were 4 questions in play:
Questions 1 & 2: ![]() Not much, though highlighted in yellow is the road Gavagai used to snipe our workers. Eff him. Question 3 is also answered there, as the barb marches neutrally into our territory, able to march on either Plame or Whiskey Ring next turn. Questions 3 & 4: ![]() We don't know where he moved his warrior (SPOILER ALERT: Turn rolled and we do, but that's the next report.) so he hasn't yet seen the road. And we decided the road was more important than the 1h of overflow we lose by waiting to move the spear out. Demogs: ![]() ![]()

t71 - Let loose the dogs of war?
So t71 brought with it a dilemma. Gavagai moved his warrior thusly: ![]() We have 71.9% odds on that warrior. Pros to attacking - kill his annoying warrior, a win is worth 3xp which makes that a 2-promo spear. Cons to attacking - 2-promo spear that lives with an average of 32hp, could lose the spear meaning we also have to move the worker, screwing with the micro. Current inclination is to NOT attack, but we're posting here to solicit opinions from the team. I'm playing around 13:00 EST, so get your opinions in before then. That's really it that's interesting this turn, given we just played the previous. Thoughts? Or any other questions from the gallery?
