So i took a peek last night and mackoti declared on suttree, taking a flood-plains rich city. That's 22 for mackoti now, vs 27 for us. He also turned off research, and makes a cool +775gpt. I'm sure having half-priced markets and grocers is helping out there. But good news for us, as scooter pointed out, is we get half-priced banks

Can we just abandon all this and just start the PYFT war to end all PYFT war? We're well equipped to hurt most of the worst offenders if mackoti did not exist. Man that would be fun.

Turn 164, Part 1
Turn rolled and I did the Oxford part because I was really excited to do it
And then settled our 28th city:
I like seeing our bpt over 1000 at max science. We actually take the top GNP if we select Banking.
I tried to figure out science for teching, and it doesn't look like we can get Economics by eot 166 unless we pull in about 300 - 350 beakers worth of Build Research (about 120 per turn). I could change our merchant specialists to scientists and probably get 15bpt that way.
If we think that getting it t167 is better, then I would still run 10% slider this turn. I don't think we'll be able to 1-turn Banking and then 2-turn Economics even if we wait a turn. I think we'll come about 100 - 200b short.
Events are eventful:

Revolt to Bureaucracy on t169, and then Astronomy would come in by t173 or t174. Sounds like you'll be getting Economics faster than you thought.

Noble tried to tell me i had errors in that post, and I re-read and re-read it, but it wasn't until you quoted me that I realized i said we'd be revolting to Bureaucracy

If we're going for Economics we should tech Banking sooner rather than later even if we need to save gold afterwards, assuming there's at least one city that you can start a bank in. And I figure there would be since they're cheap(ish) and you just finished a bunch of universities.

From what I recall, no city will be ready to start a bank until the current round of builds complete, because not many cities have markets yet. Trailblazers and Tigers do, but they are busy with Oxford/grocer. Unless banks don't require markets?
