RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Peter of Byzantium

Why don't you ask them for a longer agreement, seeing as there's no mutual border to contest?

Correct. I see sunrise as our military voice and since he hasn't complained we go Worker, then another Worker with a whip to coincide with Priesthood completing. This ensures we get overflow into The Oracle and with both Workers I don't see us losing the wonder. I don't see us standing up to an aggressor with 3 Warriors either, hopefully we can get those NAPs in place soon!

I apologize for not simming out the Settler path, for some reason I took a a look at it and thought it would work frown. Since ZPV is neutral in this area, I think we quickly contact them, ask for a long term NAP again, but barring that ask for a "no swipe our Settler guarantee". I can't expect they would disagree. In reality the Quecha is busting fog for us, so it could be an advantage...trying to think positive lol.

So what to do now about pink dot? My biggest fear for the original site with the Deer is losing Buddhism and being stuck 3 tiles from Copper. The current spot under consideration is far inferior, we'll have to Farm three tiles to make up for losing the Deer. My thinking was if we got in position and Buddhism was still available, we'd decide if we wanted to take that one turn risk to get the better site.

Okay, so let's think the Settler through. The tile south of the Fur is roaded, and next turn the tile SE of that is roaded. So our Settler will be able to move to that little sign you have that says Set 43. To me that means we can settle on turn 44 still, since we are only one tile away from current pink dot. If we are getting frisky, we would move to old pink dot and pull in the Deer, and risk one more turn on Buddhism. I'm coming around to that point of view. Its again another gamble, but shoot no guts no glory, right?

So turn 43 let the Worker finish the road, then go to the sign you have 2 west of the peak. Turn 44, if Buddhism is still available, go for the Deer site and cross fingers. If Buddhism has fallen, then settle the original site that grabs Copper in the BFC. In no case do we bother accelerating Meditation.

Okay - email off to IKZ (not ZPV smile)

Quote:Hadn't heard from you in awhile, so I thought that I would check in with you. I am not sure if you are located in the US or not so maybe you are under the influence of a turkey coma :-)

In any case, I wanted to bring back up the idea of a NAP that you had floated in one of your earlier emails - to see what your thoughts were on that.

If you are not ready or able to commit to any type of long term pact without some further discussion / negotiation, we were wondering if you would agree to some sort of shorter-term no swiping the others workers / settlers agreement.

We have a worker that is getting close to your quechua (actually it's the other way around - your quechua is getting close to our worker). Now, you guys have been very friendly, and I think it makes a lot of sense for us to cooperate, given that we don't share a border and share some common potential "enemies".

So we'd like to think you wouldn't swipe any of our units, but (and I hate to even bring this up) your quechuas DO have somewhat of a reputation in this game, if you know what I mean :-D

Anyway, if you could let us know soon that would be great - we're trying to finalize exactly what our moves are

I still need to think of a good reply for Jowy

Okay I ended T42 and we are on the clock for T43.

Again, here's the pic (though one turn out of date)

The quechua is on the tile north of the sign in the pic, and has not moved this turn

I have not roaded with our worker yet (blue circle), nor moved our settler. I agree with darrell that he seems like he should move to the Set T43 sign in the pic. I have moved our 0.2/2 warrior to that tile this turn.

@Darrell I was a bit confused by your saying that we can still settle the inferior pink dot on T44. I thought we were talking about 1E or 2E of the copper as our compromise solution.

I think that T44 we move to the uber pink dot (on the hill, with the deer). T45, if no Buddhism still, we settle. Otherwise we move 1W and settle. Either way, we get Meditation on T46.

Can you sim out the worker whip / overflows?

Also, let me know if my plan sounds good.

EDIT: Spiros our western warrior survived another lion attack. Still at 0.9/2 health and heading to (our) Athens to heal. He's at 4/5 XP - one more attack and he can take woody 2

Yeah, that's a good plan...not sure why I thought we could make it on T44 but you are correct.

I'll do so in about 18 hours. I'll sim out both Athens building The Oracle and I'll sim out Paris' initial growth curve as well. Just to make sure I have the Worker turns correct, the Worker completed the road on on turn 43, correct?

It is a bit strange but my sandbox is out of sync with the game somehow. I must have messed something up, mabye built an extra Warrior because the Settler is one turn late. Anyway, I world builded a fix for it. Here is what I see now on turn 46, after we discover Meditation and land the holy city (fingers remain firmly crossed):

The Worker finishes the road next turn, and our first Worker has 44/60 Hammers invested, and completes in two turns. I'll do some sims now on The Oracle assuming that, if the info is wrong let me know.

Don't forget to revolt to Slavery immediately!

Okay, so I found out what went wrong with my sandbox...I popped Gold lol. I went back and took it out via world builder and now the sim lines up with the game again. Unfortunately I am out of time now and won't be able to run the sims until tomorrow.

Revolt to slavery this turn? Or after meditation comes in?

I would do it this turn while the Settler is on the move, then speed mediation up 1 turn by switching the Mine to a Coast tile. We gain more by avoiding a turn of anarchy in the new city than we lose by working the Coast tile...
