Ok it's pretty rare that I disagree with much of what you say, so let's discuss.
I don't really agree, because we're talking about 20% cultural defenses against well-promoted and buffed Numids. He very likely gets odds on the archer, and the longbow probably only takes out one unit. In that case, I think it's better to preserve units since we have so few this area at the moment, and we're building attackers, not defenders, so that situation won't improve anytime soon. Killing Numids is not going to be a problem for Zerks, but I don't want to light a longbow on fire here for no reason given our distinct lack of them on the islands.
He's down to only a few hundred gold, and he had like 2K a few turns ago, so he definitely spent money on upgrades. To be clear, I'm not worried about him invading us, I'm worried about him sinking our fleet and blockading our lightly defended coast since we we don't have slavery to respond quickly.
I think it's just Bigger doing Bigger things, but I'm more curious what you mean specifically by this. Every city that has barracks + decent production is tabbed for military already, and all Bigger's units are in the deep south. So I'm more curious what additional cities you want on military. (I'm not disagreeing as much as I'm just seeking clarification here)
