What he said...I'm pretty nervous on this one lol. I think our Oracle plan is pretty darn solid, if we land the holy city our opening went about as well as it could have.

Okay do you want the good news or the bad news first?

The bad news? We didn't get Buddhism

The good news? Nobody else did either. With the founding of the 2nd city we didn't have enough to run 100% science, and we are still 5 beakers short of Meditation. It is unclear whether, had I noticed it before ending turn, if we could have swapped to all coast or not to still get it.

So looks like we're going to wait anyways! lol

Worker is roading towards Paris.

Where should the warrior that was guarding the worker go? We have Michel garrisoning Paris and Spiros in Athens' borders heading there.

Nice scare, Rego.

By the way, are you sure that buddhism will be founded in Paris and not in Athens, Byzantium? My practical experience tells me that it will surely go to Paris, but is there an article somewhere explaining the mechanics?

I checked and there is an 8x penalty against the capital city. So it's likely but not 100%.

Nuts. Oh well, could be worse I guess. Hopefully we still get it smile.

I'd say start clearing the fog near the Copper? Surely we are going to settle a city there, maybe even our 4th city.

WE GOT BUDDHISM!!!!!!!!!bowbowbowdancedancedance

The bad news?

Just kidding, no bad news lol

Actually a few things of bad news - Athlete has a warrior 2 tiles away from Paris. So I put our 3rd warrior also in there just in case of any funny business.

The other bad news is that the game scared the crap out of me. I guess in MP there is no splash screen, because the only thing I got was a popup that said Buddhism had spread in my lands, and asked me if I wanted to convert (I didn't). Then it just went on with business. I saw the little buddhism icon in Paris but it didn't look like the holy city and I had a few brief moments of terror "Maybe it was just founded this turn somewhere else and it's already spread?!?!"

But no. Founded in Paris, just like plan.

A few things:

* Worker due in 1 in the capital, with no overflow. Then another worker, right?
* Do we want to send any kind of pre-emptive message to athlete? If so, what kinds of things should we say?
* At breakeven (70%) science, we make 11 raw beakers (which is actually (11+1)*1.2 = 14). I believe we have 8 beakers overflow, and PH is 89 beakers, so that puts us at 6 turns, with 3 beakers overflow. 100% science is 16 (20) beakers, which displays 5 turns (missing by 1 beaker), but costs us -4 gpt. At 0%, we make 12gpt, or enough for 3 turns of 100%. I have put us at 0% for now.

Oh, and did I mention dance dance? lol

Anything else?

Nice! Very nice 8)! We're a bit in the dark on everyone else right now, but I wouldn't trade our opening. We have progress in the west on securing a border agreement. Coupled with our ability to plant a holy city right down the throats of our eastern neighbors, we'll end up doing fine in the land grab. This despite focusing production on The Oracle instead of Settlers...and we WILL get The Oracle, which means Metal Casting, a Shrine and bulbing Machinery. That's one side of our Guilds beeline taken care of with nary a beaker invested jive. We've secured a source of Copper, meaning we should be able to defend all this goodness. The only negative is that Athlete is immediately on to us (unfortunate but expected). Paging General Sunrise to the war room smile.

Let me see just how out of sync my sandbox is now, so I can verify our Oracle plan is still valid. At the end of turn 47:

Tech: Priesthood due in 6 turns (0/89 beakers invested)
Research: 12 beakers/turn at 80%
Athens: Worker due in two turns (44/60 hammers invested)
Athens: 5/28 food invested towards size 5.
Paris: Warrior due in 6 turns (4/15 hammers invested)
Paris: Growing in 9 turns (4/22 food invested)
Paris: Border pop in 2 turns (0/10 invested)
Worker #1: Just finished road connecting cities

At the beginning of turn 48:

Tech: Priesthood due in 4 turns (27/89 beakers invested)
Research: 14 beakers/turn at 80%
Athens: Worker due in one turn (56/60 hammers invested)
Athens: 5/28 food invested towards size 5.
Paris: Warrior due in 5 turns (6/15 hammers invested)
Paris: Growing in 8 turns (6/22 food invested)
Paris: Border pop in 1 turn (5/10 invested)
Worker #1: Ready to move towards Deer
