Hi! I'm a civ4 player (BTS), usually beating immortal and deity with a good start. I first read about this site from Sullas MP chronicles, namely the RBPB2 and Apolyton demogame. The stories were so epic I was inspired to join some pbem games myself in civfanatics. Still I'm relatively new to civ4 MP.
I'm considering to join pbem games here although the micro people put into their games is a bit intimidating . I've also learned some Cloak & Dagger stuff by lurking but that is still mostly new area to me. Do Realms Beyond pbem games use http://www.pbemtracker.com ?
Also if the maps of some games that I've red about could be found somewhere that would be great. I already tested the link for rbpb2 map but it didn't work and I read it's probably lost. What about the Apolyton demogame map?

Welcome Von to this Realms Beyond, don't worry those intimidating micro plans are generally relatively easy to do.

Weeelll.. I would say that doing a micro plan that is an improvement compared to playing without a plan is easy. Creating a really good micro plan is always complex (unless you start on a 1-tile island or something). Anyways, welcome vA.

SP and MP are of course quite different, but if you can regularly beat Deity you should be able to at least make a game of it in MP.

You say that, but really most of the stuff players learn to beat Deity is actually a hindrance to playing against humans. Knowing good micro is the main plus.
All the same, welcome to RB von Adlercreutz

Well I don't disagree with you, I'm just trying to emphasize a different aspect of Deity play. Obviously stuff like buddying to AIs through religion and running aggressive settling races might not help/may hurt. What I was trying to get at is being competent enough at basic mechanics to win Deity means one's understanding of at least some aspects of gameplay will be above the RB floor. Gaming the Deity AI notwithstanding, I still figure if a guy is a > Immortal level player he at least knows how to produce GPeople when desired or specialize cities, stuff like that.

I'm interested in joining a pbem game here, so if some game gets started and you need players please contact me. I didn't found currently any new games having room for additional players.
Alternatively I could start a pbem game myself if folks would be interested to join. Unfortunately I can't yet start any new thread to start recruiting, since apparently new members can't post new threads (to avoid spam and trolling I guess). Please contact if interested in a new game.
I'd like to have the new game to have a sub-forum where players could post updates of their situations. This seems to be something that requires moderator action. Which moderator should I contact if I were to start a new game here in the forums?

New users have to have 10 posts before they're allowed to create new threads. That was implemented to battle spam bots. If you need to boost your post count in an innocuous location, spam away for a few minutes in one of the threads here. After that you should be able to create a new thread in the Civ General forum to propose a new PBEM game. Typically once that thread picks up enough steam and you have enough players to form a game some enterprising admin will create a subform for your game and move the setup thread there.

While waiting, you could try asking if one of the players in the new greens game wants a team mate. From experience, team games work best when you have one in charge and one assisting. It can be a lot of fun and a great learning experience if the chemistry is good. You might also pick a running game or two to dedlurk a player. If you're not familiar with the term, it means that you check only that player's thread which gives you permission to comment extensively and give advice.
