RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

For those who may be wondering why ej801 hasn't attempted to justify himself or apologize: I believe I know the reason; quoted from page 1 of India's thread:
ej801 Wrote:I'm going to follow just you guys. More fun that way.

So I'm guessing ej801 isn't reading this thread at all - nor any of the others' but Speaker/Sullla's! - and so doesn't know that anyone thinks his unspoiled suggestion gave away too much of what it turns out he didn't know!

@scooter: Agreed, even though it doesn't apply in this instance; I think on the whole, we as lurkers need to be very careful - even more careful than we've been.

It's impossible to comment on anything without being influenced consciously or unconsciously by spoiler information, so there will always be some degree of spoiling. I guess that's the price to pay for an active community.

If ej is only following Spullla's thread, his timing and wording was uncanny smile

Quite a few people are being stumped on city maintenance costs - those whoa re doing sandboxes anyway - can you tell from the F8 screen the world wrap?

Rego's team is moving slowly on defenses, and athlete's looking to chariot-rush him. Think we're going to see an emergency Oracle delay? shhh

Hmmm ... I hope my post in Jowy's forum wasn't going over the line. There aren't any spoilers in it - all the data is taken from his thread - but I felt compelled to post something, partly because of an earlier comment from someone that his "Black Dot" would be an aggressive location - four tiles from his own capital! Rego has enough talent on his team, not least in his own diplomatic ability, without other people reinforcing his skillful - as Exploit put it in that public thread - deceit.

(Meanwhile, Dantski's response to his southern neighbors stealing his copper is to want more than ever to settle north? Can that be right? What would you do in his place? Maybe Skirmisher-rush the HRE's Pink Dot?)

Demolish the city and camp outside the HRE's borders and starve them out maybe.

I wonder why they felt they needed to do that, doesn't seem the most logical choice to piss of the guy with skirmishers.

I am quite disappointed at how stupidly Byzance (very likely) screwd both their short and long term plans (Oracle & rush with medieval UU) by settling a far too aggressive and even not that good city (can't get copper in time, won't dare to work the deer that is the only thing they gain moving that East!!).

On the other hand HRE with the aggressive copper city might manage to back their claim.

i don't think there was anything out of place in your post. it's funny how different people react to things - if that had been me in jowy's place, the message from regoarrarr would have very seriously ticked me off lol

I think they got simply too greedy and wanted too much. the future will show if this move costs them any prospects of winning this game.

For me this city is the second big smoke-move occuring in this game. (the Korean's settling in place being the first one).

So - Byzantine settle close to the Ottomans and are researching priesthood while defending with warriors waiting another 15 or so turns for their border to pop before getting copper...

I hope the Ottomans chariot rush them for this smoke move!
