Well the really odd thing is that I don't even remember asking him for troops? Something must be up I think

What the heck is going on with Jowy? Is this some sort of made-up-provocation for when he DOWs us? Maybe even subconscious? I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of land split agreement between the two teams.

Reloaded.
Did all of my moves the same (worker chopped, spiros moved to forest) as before and whipped archer.

For the record, on Take 1, Spiros was at 1.4/2 health. But I'll be happy if he just doesn't die on Take 2

Email to sullla
Quote:Thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully Spiros wins again after the reload :-D
As for Jowy, his attitude has taken a turn for the weird. I don't know if he has some sort of secret agreement with the Ottomans or if he hates us (me?) for being a bunch of rule breaking cheaters or what.
But his tone has gone 180 from his earlier conversation. Where he used to be friendly, now he is super cold and suggested in the email thread that we delete our archer?!?
Anyways....

And one to Jowy
Quote:I am not sure if it is something in the language border (I think I remember saying you were Finland so I am assuming English is not your 1st language - apologies if not. You speak (write? :-P ) English very well but sometimes there can be nuances missed. Or maybe it's just the general difficulties in written vs. spoken communication. Or maybe you think that we are just dirty rotten cheaters.
But our team has noticed a significant cooling in the tone of your emails towards us. Like I said, I don't know if it's intentional or due to one of the things above, but if it was anything that we did, I apologize on behalf of our team.
As for our Ottoman war, it's fine that you will not be sending units nor getting involved. I tried to look back in our past correspondence, but I could not find where we asked for overt involvement. So no worries there! :-D
I understand that you cannot get involved - it only makes sense. The only thing that I meant in my last email was just my personal opinion that you would not want a super large Ottoman empire on your border. I mean if they take all of our cities, then it is true as you said that they would be your neighbors, but they would have twice as much land as you.
As for the agreement with India, we were not proposing any sort of formal alliance. Just mentioning that we had met Sullla and we mentioned that you and us had had good talks, and they said that they also had a favorable impression of you. So in that case, it seemed to make sense that we might want to reach some sort of mutually beneficial arrangement.
And as for us vassaling to you, I was not suggesting that we would become your vassal - just commenting that at this point, our chances of winning this game look bleak. And if that continues (and no reason to think it won't, what with 3 Ottoman units pillaging the lands of our only city), we would probably be interested in trying to achieve other goals for this game, which might include helping civs that were helpful to us to advance / win, as opposed to the civs that attacked and hurt us, like the Ottomans.
Anyways, again, I apologize if we have wronged you in any way.

Okay turn has flipped over. This time Spiros won flawlessly . My recommendation would be NW to then move N-NW and head west towards the other civs.
We have 3 archers in Athens.
They have moved the chariot and warrior to the same hill tile SW of AThens, next to our worker.
We have 26.7% odds on the chariot.
We would have 78.3% odds on the warrior.
We have enough overflow from the whip to complete a 4th archer next turn.
We have a 16% chance to lose to both the chariot and warrior. I'd assume that we would kill the wounded chariot with our 3rd archer, but that seems awfully risky.
Probably best to evacuate the worker to the west and see what we get next turn with the 4th archer. They may not expect us to come up with a 4th archer next turn.

There are actually 4 possible choices:
1) Move the worker 1W or 1W+something else.
-->Pro - Worker has zero chance of being captured this turn
-->Con - If Athlete moves both of his units W to the same tile we won't have good odds due to his guerrilla warrior as the top defender. The forest chop is delayed 2 turns.
2) Move the worker 1E and cover with an archer
-->Pro - May tempt Athlete into a poor odds battle. If Athlete doesn't attack our archer is on a road and can move back inside our city.
-->Con - While chariot v archer is probably only a 20% battle or so, he could clean up with his warrior. The forest chop is delayed 1 turn.
3) Keep the worker in place and cover with an archer
-->Pro - Athlete will have no odds on our worker even with both units, barring crazy luck (archer will be strength-equivalent 6 + a first strike)
-->Con - The forest chop is delayed 1 turn. Our archer would also be off our road network.
4) Chop with the worker and cover with an archer
-->Pro - May tempt Athlete into a poor odds battle. Does not delay the chop at all.
-->Con - While chariot v archer is probably only a 20% battle or so, he could clean up with his warrior. Our archer would also be off our road network.
Right now I lean toward 3 -> 2 -> 4 -> 1
Regoarrarr and Darrell, what do you think? I'll check back in about 7 hours before I have to play.

We could road the forest ratehr than chopping. Then next turn, we could road it again and then it would be on the road network.
I am assuming we'll swap production from Oralce to a 4th archer?
