So do we think Xenu really skunked us on pre-Calendar luxes or do we think they're in the fog somewhere?

I made the prescribed moves, which didn't reveal anything interesting.

I think the puzzle basically looks like this. The puzzle of the game right now is how to get enough commerce to unlock happy cap improvements. There's two tricks to this - firstly we get enough scouting going on to reveal wherever the hidden furs/ivory/metals are. This means that probably the southern warrior comes back home until we get a warrior done in new city and then moves south to see whats there while the northern warrior checks out the area around the corn there. Then the next warrior built in the capital moves west-ish to reveal tiles there. If we find something, we sell out to settle it.

If we find nothing, then we basically max commerce while expanding. Here's a little map that shows this.

Essentially, the 3 hearts are the cities we settle after pigs, because they have the highest commerce potential. The land green checkmarks get cottaged and worked as constantly as possible, the coastal checkmarks are either food res or lakes we can lighthouse. The orange exclamations are cottages that could be worked by pigs city. Pigs city could also get a quick Library and run two scientists with its food surplus instead. While an early academy is of dubious value because we won't be able to run high enough slider, the scientists themselves are worth a non-negligible bpt and the academy could grow to be useful or the scientist could be iced for an early GA. In this situation our tech path post-BW looks something like Fishing > Sailing > Writing > ... > Monarchy. Downside is the Monarchy run will almost assuredly be too slow to pick up Judaism and waiting on CoL eschews the attempt at Confucianism. That might leave us relying on spreads and/or having to tech something less desirable like Theology or Philosophy.

Anyway, hopefully the scouting will make all this moot and we find some gold in the west and we can just Gaspar Road it. But its worth thinking about.

In fairness, Horse city is clearly a production city that we're settling for horses, should have made it clear I don't think that city has commerce potential. I also missed checkmarking the clams, but you get the idea.

Dull turn. Got a forest growth NW of the wheat. Warriors are looping back. Workers roaded wines. Settler and Mining complete at EOT. I'll leave the next turn for you, Lewwyn.

City 3, PH spot FTW.

Went ahead and played this one since Lewwyn was surely sleeping...

Mining in, onto BW. Settler is in place to settle next turn - Eden? Olympus? Workers put 2t into the PHM, as prescribed. Cap on a warrior which finishes immediately with overflow.

In the north, Warrior revealed another snow tile. The arrows denote a suggested scouting path to get him back in time for the 3rd city, wherever we might plant it. Any thoughts?

An unhappy place seems more appropriate at this stage. lol

Uh, I think you were supposed to overflow out of the settler into another settler. You know, that part that I specifically told you about.

It's okay we still get the settler done the same time by growing to 4 and working the PHmine half the time. This gets us that 3rd scouting warrior now, we'll put 2 turns next into a granary, grow to 4 and start the settler. It still only takes 6t.

Unless you were thinking we just built the settler before getting to 4? But we need a warrior to guard the settler and scout, and we need to grow to 4 to start working the cottage.

No worries Noble. This works out so the settler settles same turn yours did.
