Pitboss 18 IT and Tech Issues Thread

I'm not going to give up the hosting, HAK. I just needed help to figure out the problem. However, I fear that I have figured it out myself, and I am starting to suspect that I am dealing with a faulty HD. If that is indeed the case I have some serious issues, as I cannot afford a new HD right now.

Yep. I have a defective HD. I have had the foresight of setting up backup of both the server itself and the Pitboss savegames (at the very least from yesterday, so at most we lose one day worth of turns) to a different HD. But given that I do not have a replacement HD at the moment, and cannot afford to purchase one, I am at a complete loss about what to do right now. Sigh.

Edit: Because of moving around the furniture last night, the backup schedule didn't run, so the savegames I have are from May 7th. Not that very many people played yesterday anyways, so it shouldn't be too big of a deal.

How much does a new HD cost Cal? I'd be happy to donate a bit to a new one, and I presume a lot of the other folks having a ball at your expense would too...

Dunno if Kickstarter or Paypal or just bank details would be best?

I support donations. Actually I've already made one using bank transfer. Seemed very effortless and shouldn't have extra costs, but we'll see when the transfer reaches its destination (this was from Finland to Norway). If I had to guess, at least transfers done form EU area should be easy and low cost. If you want to do something similar I suggest messaging privately with Caledorn.

I recently had a HDD failure. I reached out to the manufacturer and they replaced it free of charge (it was inside its guarantee period).
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I don't know what to say guys, except thank you. Plako and Novice have actually contributed enough that I can buy a new HD. If anyone wants to contribute a little bit, I am sure Novice would appreciate it. A HD is thankfully not very expensive though, so we're not talking huge amounts.

I will order a new HD today, and it should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Again, thank you guys. I appreciate this a great deal!

Thanks guys! bow

I can try to host in the meantime, I've set up an RB Mod 2.0.6.4 test pitboss game here:

spacetyrantxenu.no-ip.org:2057

If some of you guys can try to connect and post back here letting me know you're able to connect maybe we can play on for a few days. If it doesn't work...nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'm going to be away from home for several hours so if it looks like it will work then later today I can try to get the save hosted.

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon
