I'd give Dtay credit for his ambition on that pink dot city plant he just threw on Commodore, except that he has no idea how aggressive the placement is because he hasn't properly scouted his neighbor or the area. That one is going to cause him some problems down the line and it was completely unnecessary at this stage of the game with there being so much other really good land to settle without any provocation whatsoever.

Dtay Wrote:No idea how fair that is since idk where his capital is, but i'm fine with it at least.

It looks like 13 tiles from Dtay's capital, 8 tiles from Commodore's. So yeah, pretty pink dot. It's a very audacious attempt at a seal-and-fill play saying to Commodore: I'm going to play against you like you're an Emperor AI. lol

Do you think Commodore can call him on it? Comm is in a bit of a tech quagmire himself, a long way from even Math.

It might be worth it, but Commodore would have to pile on and raze a few more cities behind it to really make it worthwhile for himself. No razing the front city and then retreating crap.

I'd take those at the expense of the corn which you could then use to put up a quick fishing city. I wouldn't be shocked to find a seafood down there to go with the corn, if we can ever keep the scouts from dying.

Yeah, I hate it as well. Maybe I'll take another stab at dotmapping over there.

When I played through their start I had a really hard time figuring out what to do in that area of the map, too.

Even having complete map info wouldn't make this one easy, IMO.

It's really hard to see a productive use of the wheat AND to get a good lighthouse enabled lake city in that area. But hey, DAT MOAI, that thing is going to be a beast.
Good luck guys! lol

Depends how aggressive you want to be:

Black dot, Moai city has 12 coastal tiles, of which 8 are freshwater. The wheat just doesn't matter, you workshop every land tile ASAP and turn it into a hammer city.

Red dot is perfect front city, people have to attack over flat land and city is on a hill, and can take the sheep from black dot because black dot has too much food.

Green dot has 4 light house lakes plus grass deer, plenty of food...the wet corn is just overkill but it has it anyway.

Blue dot picks up the wet wheat and has 1 lighthouse lakes as well. The wheat makes up for the loss of 2 lakes IMO.

Orange dot is because I don't know what that area of the map looks like but the only other reasonable position is 1W; between pig and corn is too many water tiles.

Purple, pink and white dots are already settled cities that are in fine positions.

And invalid by Green. Good dotmap, although with their easterly push they might lose out on red (not sure where their neighbor is up to here).

Even if you moved green it'd suck as a city site. They shouldn't get red at all, but this is more of a generic idealised dot map.

This would be something I think Gaspar might be able to get though:

The trouble is that their second city shares the capital wheat and missed the second wheat, which isn't really something they could have known about at the time. Grabbing that one tile make things a mess.
