This is just in case there is someone interested who doesn't know a need for such a thing exists. But we need you. It would be really useful to have a roster of one or more additional people for these situations:
1. Someone will be away from a computer and they leave instructions in their thread for a sub to play.
2. The turn is about to roll, and someone is going to miss a turn, and didn't remember to notify the tech thread.
I think we're quite willing to accept people who are spoiled, and you just need to play to make sensible local moves as if what you see on the board is all you know. Have workers do something sensible, queue new builds that are sane, move new units toward somewhere that could be useful, that sort of thing. The idea is to not set back a civ so much for a missed turn, the way simply letting the turn roll would do. And not do crazy things like AI control would. Obviously, no strategic bombs like war decs or civic swaps or diplo offers. Reporting while role playing some sort of demon lord is not required but it may help.
It requires a bit of a thick skin... 30 people will love you and the service you're doing to keep an unwieldy game moving. A small minority will think you are literally a Nazi.

As member of the 30 who will love you, request seconded.
Also second the request for role play of a demon lord, if possible.

It should be noted that you will not be expected (by the 30 that love you) to play turns of those that do not give you passwords to the game...so less work for you.
Also +1 to the lovefest.

How many players have been late without notice the past 5 turns or so?

More accurately: The 5-10 players currently heavily invested in the game will love you, 2-3 players will think you're literally a Nazi, and then the 10-15 or so who probably most need your services don't even realize this is a something that's being discussed.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Last Sunday, we were on Turn 57, and this Sunday we are still on turn 60.

As one of the few people not involved in the game, I'd be willing to help with playing a turn here and there. Just as long as these are <10 turn subs and not turning into permanent positions. Enough people already think I'm an evil bastard that a few more won't matter.
If we're doing this it seems necessary for a new sticky thread with "please play ___'s turn" requests, which I (and anyone else wanting to help) can subscribe to. Posts in this thread would need to be exclusively requests for a turn to be played, so I can be as prompt as possible in helping out (not getting spammed with irrelevant stuff). I don't see the game on Civstats, and I can't keep up with 34 threads daily.

That would be completely fine, I think! Also, there's a custom tracker for the game here: http://caledorn.no-ip.org:81/
Just turns here and there, for everyone who opts in.
