My plan for the next few turns was to help Zanth protect his cities. It did not seem as far-fetched as trying to land in Gavagai's core, and it would have been fun to fight with three players on the same front.
I agreed with Gavagai that the game was becoming too boring for anyone other than the two of us at this stage. Perhaps I should have consulted everyone individually before accepting draw, but I felt they would just keep playing out of politeness. Maybe we should have continued the game for 8-10 more turns to see the showdown.
I think I succeeded economically because Furungy was too peaceful, and Zanth was justifiably wary of Gavagai, so I never had any military complications. I was trailing behind in the beginning because I was unprepared for the scale of the map, and I didn't build enough cities. Once I overcame the mental block of founding more cities in the distance, things took a turn for the better. Apostolic Palace was hugely useful to me as well.
I'll have a look at other players' threads later on today. My condolences go to MYKI, who was doomed from the start by his extraordinarily disadvantageous start. Squeezed between three aggressive players, there was no chance he could survive.
