[spoilers] Pax Commodorica: Pharaoh of Rome

So there is a bit of an unpleasant pile up here in my natural waters. I'm the only man able to build triremes, but Ox and Thoth are both near CoL; it's not like that's a huge beaker count any more. Just depressing, man. At least my Flavians will be happy finally next turn due Monarchy; I failed another Hindu spread to those ungrateful sods.

Failed religion spread, electric shock to the head. Neither are fun and one is totally unnecessary!

Sigh. I hear that. Electric shocks to the head are kind of the current theme, to be completely honest and wry. Thoth just landed Confucianism and stole an island base, while someone (Dtay) built the Great Wall for getting me cash. I just feel like it is all slowly falling apart here in Rome. Also, I'm in four games right now and every one of them is stalled out...

We'll still make a run of it. No response to my diplo pane in Gaspar-land, they're probably obsessing a bit more over the MoM and whining about TBS' Joao domination. No matter; THIS IS ROME. AND IN ROME, WE FIGHT.

AND PROBABLY DIE.

It's on an iceberg. Is that going to be a problem?

We reloaded, so new new turn tomorrow...

...but as a note, CivStats tells me there is some tension in between Gaspar and TBS; looks like they're doing to split-dance.

It is now 225 BC; Hindu Rome is finally about to have legions*. Fourteen cities; all but two of them in state religion and all all of them smaller than most of their counterparts in other bigger nations; still, this is going to be a fine base to send out a good solid ~30 knight punch. Just a little more building; aiming to have all the pieces in place for a proper mass whipping in four more tech's time.

Here's an annoying builder problem: temples, praetorians, or missionaries are all one-pop whips after just a city tile's input now. cry So barracks, overflow, horse archers is how we're going to swing this. It still works, but at this juncture I'd really have rather had praetorians.

...because look who just showed up. Dtay or Ox might snipe this. That...would be bad. I have until it grows.

Natural increase is still the best way; Deiotariana ain't much, but it's three knights when the time comes for blood. I'll take that. nod

Iron working came in today; I have iron at least in one place. My wine-hooking pair will hasten to hook it next. I'm content. TBS also declared war on Lewpar. I really hope it is a border skirmish, not a gamelong grudge match. But given personalities involved...not sanguine about it. frown

...also visible is Ox's ax moving at the barb city. As long as he just razes I have no quarrel.

My other natural iron is an unfortunate victim of Thoth's powerful culture claiming both tiles on this island here. Hatty is rough to neighbor, man.

My other irons are indeed in the ice and tundra to the south. This island was earmarked for settlement anyway; might be just a touch better now. The tundra iron further east of here is on my dot for a city; this is a problem but I'll manage somehow. My last wonder aimed for are the Hanging Gardens. Forge gets only 1-pop whipped, then I'll grow to size 6 and triple-whip in the aqueduct. Couple it with all those forests, and we've got a nice hefty happy boost. Bonamente.

Hopefully I can complete it. Interesting times altogether next.
