force him to whip past his happy cap, delay his expansion, and raze his resources

Haram and I finally made peace. He actually whipped himself above me in power rating, which is insane because I had a huge stack of units in his borders. I only hope that I did enough damage that he doesn't completely eclipse me once he develops all his vastly superior land.

Speaking of land, I discovered Parkin has settled right up close to me in another mountain chokepoint (rolleye). He offered me some seafood for free, which is very nice of him. It might be because I have some heavy hitters in the area, but I think its worth taking the risk that this is a gesture of goodwill here. I can't have another border like I do with Haram, and its looking very likely that there's gonna be someone other neighbor boxing me in from the east as well. What the hell is going on with this map.

City 5 to be founded T70, Settler #6 out T71 to grab the plains horses. Grabbing another pair of workers after that, for 7 total (I have tons of developed tiles already due to getting 3 workers before my first settler, heh), and am the grabbing Math and Currency. I still have not uncovered any happiness resources other than the four just outside of Haram's capital. frown

Wha... what? now believe me, I am thrilled about someone else settling in Haram's face, but again I'm shocked on how close everyone is. Misread the opening so hard... if only we had sent our scouts a different way. Yadayadayada... I'm sure everyone is tired as hell of hearing about this by now.

Founded City #5 here:

Found a nice spot with Silver (!) and rice about 8 tiles east of my capital, and then another spot to the northwest of it that would make a killer Moai spot. So, I think I'm extend this settling spree to 7 cities total.

I met HAK's scout right around the same area.

Fairly mature city here, actually... that cottage is actually a hamlet with 14 turns sunk into it. He's got a barb axe threatening him 1NE of the city, but has chariots around so no big deal for him. I like that city name. thumbsup

Library done next turn, at which point I'll finally crank research up to get Mathematics. SO far behind in tech at this point.

Seven declined my OB offer btw, so I guess I wardec him T77 to move my scout through his borders. =/ Hope this doesn't start shit.

Also, having problems with unit upkeep? Here's a solution I just discovered: dive a full health C1 chariot into a flatland barb Axeman and lose. Problem solved. smoke

cool, Seven re-offered OB after all.

rushing out a library on Haram's border. I've already stolen the tiles next to his city with the first borderpop, including the peak which gives nice vision, and the library should help secure that. (plus be nice for when my workers lay some cottages down)
