RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Peter of Byzantium

You could always take your galley and pillage someone's nets for fun.

T80 played and still no sign of more Ottoman units.

We are at 54/100 on the settler currently, and making 6 f-hpt. Chop will come in next turn (T81). So:

T80: 54/100
T81: 60/100 (chop makes it 26 fh this turn)
T82: 86/100 (whip to make it 116/100 ), size 1 so only 5fhpt
T83: Settler built, 21 overflow hammers into an archer (I guess?)
T85: We could have another archer

I think I'm going to move the 2nd worker 2N onto the hill (in the fog) just to scout things out next turn (only 1 needs to chop to finish the forest). Risks being eaten if there's a barb in the fog but at this point....

Since we're delayed a turn due to loading costing the unit's movement, we actually have expanded options to settle (we can settle 3 tiles away from Athens on T85)

For reference (and lurkers) here's the current situation

We can load the settler onto the galley on T83 on any of the black Xs

So I think that means we have the choice of just about any of those currently unfogged tiles. I'm leaning towards the plains hill NE of the other crabs.

So it's T83 load onto the galley
T84 unload (uses all movement - I think?)
T85 settle (possibly move 1 tile first)

As you may have noticed in the RBP3 planning thread, but Nakor posted that he had talked to Jowy and they wanted to join Athlete and Kalin as a 4 person team.

So.... perhaps I'm meta-gaming a bit, but it sure sounded...interesting

Certainly seems to indicate (though not definitively) that Jowy and the Ottomans (and Nakor) are in some sort of alliance in this game.

It certainly suggests they have been talking a lot behind the scenes. I guess the Turks did a good job with Jowy to our detriment wink.

T81 played. Chop finished, and we'll whip next turn. Pottery will also come in next turn.

2 big questions:

What do we research next?

Where do we settle?

Still no sign of Ottoman units - they have to be out there because their power graph is insane (115K soldiers now)

My opinions are a) Writing, and b) on the hill the worker is on.

The arguments against settling on that city is that it would be the only hill that the capital's BFC would have, so really low production. It does pick up all 3 food boni though. We could try and settle east and leave the deer for another city (maybe with the incense)

Dunno - thoughts? I think that if we don't see any more Ottoman units this turn (T81 when they play), that we will be fairly safe at least till we get our other city.

Here's my reasoning.

T82 onto the horses. (i.e. we odn't see them this turn)
T83 move NW.
T84 They could attack, but it would be across the river, so they might not (or we might win, depending on the stack they bring).
T85 they could attack not across the river, but T85 on our turn (and we play first), we will settle.

The suspicion I've had is that the agreement they made with Jowy is that they will choke us and then Jowy will take Athens on T100 when our NAP runs out.

There's also an Ottoman unit next to Spiros in Sullla's lands - not sure if he can attack us or not.

I am pretty sure that if there is a stack, and only one unit in the stack is at war with you, the attacker will ignore the rest of the units, and attack the one that it is at war with. So the Ottoman unit could attack Spiros.

Interesting. I'm also not sure if it matters that we're in a 3rd party lands, rather than in neutral territory. Also not sure if he'll even take the shot since we're on a hill.

As long as the Ottomans have open borders with Sullla/Speaker, which they probably do, they can attack if they want to.

I'd love to settle on Iron, but that doesn't seem possible frown. Writing is good as well. Next build should be a Workboat, which we whip as soon as possible for the Crab!
