Clock Poll time!

We've had a bunch of opinions in the tech thread but no consensus, so lets use the medium of Poll to find out what everyone really thinks, then do nothing about it.

Please vote for EVERY option you would be happy to play with (ie I can cope with 24 or 48 hour timers and would really like to see option 5 given a go, but I don't mind if the consensus is for one of the other options, so I didn't tick 7).

Edit: I couldn't add notes because the options had a character limit on them, the notes were:
2 & 3 (I want to make LP's life hard)
6 (ie if peace suddenly reigns switch to 24 hour turns)
7 (okay, maybe this should read: "I won't be able to cope with the options I didn't vote for, please don't force me to", but I thought the original was more thematic.)

Simply put, if we can play the turns in 1 real day, and with the natneg server I think we can do so, we should do so. If we extend the turn timer, this game is not going to end properly until around T300, which would be, when, a year from now assuming no pauses or reloads? We'll be lucky to finish it by Christmas 2015. If we play a turn a day we can get this game done by Easter.

If people think they are going to get bored with this game sooner or later, and it happens to everyone eventually, wouldn't it be better to see teh game come to some sort of conclusion sooner rather than later?

I agree in principle, but I think pauses or LP burning out would kill the game faster than a 48 hour timer would.

I'd like to see a 24 hour timer for the next 50-100 turns, then a longer timer later on. I'd also like to suggest that declaring on the "wrong" side of an existing turn split to give yourself a benefit at the expense of the timer is a dick move that people should avoid.

If we vote for every option we're happy with, how do we indicate what our preference amongst those options is?
I have to run.

You don't, this poll is designed to find what people don't want. Sorry. Feel free to post your choice in the thread though and I'll tot them up when I do the results in a few days time.

I think we're already at the part of the game where ongoing turn splits are the norm. Given the number of splits possible (or likely, or already in existence) I think a 48 hour maximum is necessary. Now, there should be NO need for pauses and I think we should further agree that if the player in the first part if the turn split hasn't played by about hour 30 or so at the latest, player two can go ahead and play without further delay because the idea is they everyone should have 24 hours maximum to play their turn.

Best case scenario, people still play quickly and the turn rolls each day anyway but I think depending on when the turns roll that may not necessarily be possible. If player one in a split catches the roll at a bad time (going to work, whatever) that may mean a delay until he can play, pushing back player two, etc. Worst case, though, it's a turn every other day which isn't as annoying as frequent pauses or burning out our super sub, IMO.

I can buy this with the extended turn timer by T200: at that point a lot of people should be dead though, and there will be fewer really obnoxious turn splits to deal with.

I just can't bring myself to vote for a full two day timer, even though I know that for LP the turn roll needs to be consistent. 24 hours until things are really a mess. If we try to war on the right-ish side of the timer things should be ok. I don't want to be playing this game until next Christmas if I can help it.

Ending turn last for more than a couple of turns SHOULD be an elimination, unless you're second half and your opponent drags his feet needlessly, in which case that guy gets dogpiled all to hell. Just my opinion. devil

My option wasn't shown. Anything above 24hrs. I couldn't cope with a timer shorter than that.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.
