Hi ReallyEvilMiffin
As long as you will not disappear on us in a few weeks/months, and as long as you can play turns consistently with all those games then I have no problem with you joining. For map, the mapmaker is more of a "roll a few maps until he gets one that looks fun & balanced-ish" than actually making map.
Just to make sure our definition of AI-Diplo is the same, here's my understanding: No communication about the game inside or outside of the game. No renaming units to convey a message. No trade offers such as city x + horse + iron + 3gpt to try and convey some type of message.
This should be a given, but I'll put it out there all the same ... no replaying of turns to manipulate combat results.

I'm okay with you playing my friend, as long as you can play a consistent 1t a day, otherwise I might have to kill you.
I don't know how to setup a tracker but I'm okay with one. That way I know about who I need to bicth in my thread.

No I won't disappear, I'm in for the long haul. I generally can play turns a couple of times a day especially early quick turns, and always can do them within 24hrs.
The tracker is really good, it lets everyone know where the file is without having a constant thread of GPS posts. It also shows when the game was sent on so no hiding those who slow the turn pace down!

Yeah I took AI diplo to be no messages/text at all, so we are on the same page there, and I do know the PBEM code.
I'm fine with all the settings and the normal speed. However might I recommend an Inland sea type map for something that would be easier for a mapmaker to balance? It has a good mix of resources and generally is fairly lush terrain, but most importantly it would not take much effort for the map roller to balance. It is rather easy to see if the players are roughly equidistant from each other, that there are no odd offshoots into the centre giving someone extra land and everyone does defintely have the same amount of neighbours to contend with with 1 each side. But lakes I am fine with (I guess it would be wrapped though?)

Ah, that link brings back some memories. FWIW, we used to use that tracker then, well, we broke it because we used all the disk space on that server. So we started to use a gmail tracking system. Basicaly each player send the save to a central tracker which then forwarded the save onto the next player, and we hosted a tracking page on various peoples web servers. Here is an example of what it looked like

Haha definitely mischief!
Fair enough, as long as there is a tracker type device I'm happy. I'm in a Rhyes PBEM which is good fun but the turn is frequently getting lost with players spawning and empires failing as that tracker cannot handle the dynamic spawns and falls. Hope this can get started in the next couple of weeks!
How many players are you gonna wait for? We are at 5 now yes? And I would prefer barbs off especially if the difficulty level is beyond prince.
