The Pyramids seem to be more powerful under a SPI leader. In practice is it significantly stronger?

I don't think so. How often do you really want to swap out of Rep? Police State is the only other civic I would swap into. I suppose that can be valuable if you are going for all out war.

They are stronger for the Spi leader, but I'd not say "significantly". Like Gaw says, Representation is your 90% of the time civic until around the Democracy/Fascism time frame anyway. If you can afford the happiness loss of a Police State swap...you're undergrown (AKA "doing it wrong").

However, Rep is very nice in those Caste swap times.

Spiritual's real golden-boy wonder is the Sweaty Pizza.

I'm assuming Sweaty Pizza is code for the unspellable wonder that grants access to all religions civics? That one I could see as beening really boosted in the hand of SPI compared to non-spi. I didn't think of this before, but Pacifism in the hands of a SPI leader is basically a free PHI trait because most GPP are pumped out in short focused bursts anyway. It seems to me though (at least from my experience) that just about the time I'm considering building the Sweaty Pizza wonder I'm about ready to research Philosophy or Theocracy anyway. I supposed an intentional semi-beeline with a plan to make use of it earlier could have advantages though.

Quick player/leader/civ analysis

Retep: Asoka (SPI/ORG) of Sumer ... I only know retep from the greens PBEM where he was alone on that snake-that-was-basically-an-island. He appeared competent at the buildering game, but other than that I do not know. I'll do some more research and see if he has been combat-tested if I have time. I do not understand the hype about Sumeria that makes it the #1 pick. SPI/ORG: meh on ORG, but whatever floats your boat I guess. With Brennus gone I guess that was the best remaining SPI/something leader (but then again, I'm rather biased wink )

Bob: Wang Kon (FIN/PRO) of Mali ... This still might be the most powerful long-term leader, even with PRO. Skirmisher boosted with PRO makes Bob virtually unassailable early game, letting his cottages grow in peace and quite. But man, that's got to be a boring game. I don't know much about Bob's playing style, except that my perception is that he falls into the more-warlike-than-not camp. On the other hand, with his traits and civ I predice a defensive builder game.

Jowy: Pericles (CRE/PHI) of Egypt ... Watch out early game! Jowy likes to make use of his UU. Honestly not sure how good the traits are, but with War Chariots and Creative culture he can settle up on his neighbors. I just hope that if he borders me he doesn't try rushing early.

REM: Bismarck (EXP/IND) of Byzantium ... Oh 'Phracts, what is thou lure?! EXP I think is somewhat less powerful given a lusher map (I can already get 10-turn worker out of my Cap). IND is IND. REM is apparently a gamespy addict, trying to get his fix via PBEM. I only ever played one gamespy game, but my perception of the gamespy strategy is that it's very much more focused on warring and early game decisive action. I predict that if anyone loses interest in the long hall it will be REM (please let me be pleasantly surprised!).

Me, Cornflakes: Brennus (SPI/CHA) of Ottoman Empire ... See earlier post for leader/civ comments. If I can survive the early game without conflict with Egypt or Sumer. I plan to win by military conquest, either domination or concession. My early game will be focussed on not settling up on neighbors and not sniping workers, declaring to scout borders/sit on resources, and in general making myself as non-pain-in-the-rear as possible. I recently read a post by Pindicator is PBmassive discussing warfare in civ, and he referenced Commodore's musings in PBsomethingOrOther (I'm a lazy lurker and can't keep the numbers strait and am typing this up offline). Excellent thoughts; if you haven't come across those yet then I would recommend looking them up, not that my directions to finding them were very helpful lol

Which pizza wonder do you think each player will want to target first? I'm pretty sure REM is a shoo-in for the vegetarian combo, Bob will want the chicken even if nobody else is interested, and I have a good feeling that Jowy will favor the thin-crust desert pizza but... but I'm unsure about whether you or retep will be first to the deep-dish supreme. Any thoughts here...? lol
