Sorry, stopped paying attention to LoL when I realised how much more I liked Dawngate, so won't watch this year. I have to ask though, is Najin White Shield related to Najin Black Sword?
Surprise! Turns out I'm a girl!

Yes, Shield is the sister team of Sword. Watch,Shield's jungler, played for Sword at both the S2 and S3 worlds.

Group A and C seem very easy to call with the Korean and Chinese teams advancing (the Chinese team in Group 3 being OMG). You'd expect Royal to win Group B with TSM and SK fighting for 2nd. Its hard to judge how strong SEA team are though to TPA could spring a surprise on those 2. Lastly the Korean team should win through in Group D even if they're the weakest Korean team at worlds, C9 and Alliance will fight for 2nd with C9 being the favourites.

I don't expect the wildcard teams to win a single game unless another team is eliminated and chooses to troll like TSM did last year. Their inclusion might encourage more players from those regions to get involved in tournaments and competitive play in general but they have never been on the same level on the professional teams and having them in the tournament over teams like SKT or Curse or whoever else does annoy me since they are nowhere near being one of the top 16 teams in the world.

I don't agree with Group C being easy to call - Samsung Blue will obviously get out of it but I think it's a crapshoot between the other three teams. I'd even put Fnatic as slight favourites over OMG to advance. The experience Fnatic have on a LAN environment is enormous.

Otherwise, Group B is probably the most interesting. TPA are very good, and I'm not sure it would be a surprise if they were to win that group. SK can feel hard done by with the draw - they're probably the weakest team in there.

The wildcard teams will probably lose every game, but it's important they're there. Remember that TPA were essentially a wildcard team prior to the Season 2 World Championship. It's important they have a chance, and I think the way Riot have done it this year was very balanced. And remember that if they were to let the best 16 teams in the world in purely on merit, probably three-quarters of them would be Korean. No-one wants to watch that world championship. (Except Koreans!)

Watched the games on the first day.

Some thoughts:

- The Chinese teams looks really good. They can definitely challenge the Koreans.
- SK is essentially playing 4v5 with Svenskeren suspended.
- DP is completely outclassed.
- The Taiwanese teams have significant weaknesses and will struggle to make it out of the groups.

Amusingly Kabum eSports won a game against All. I feel like the Brazil scene might be growing enough to the point they can actually contest games with more teams. Additionally it looks like both TSM and C9 were just short of getting first seed in their groups and they have to face off against SSW and SSB respectively. Chances are they both get stomped. They face each other. And whoever wins that I personally think will win the Finals.
