That's some weird geography right there.

I find this screen somehow amusing - these are attack options of Grimace into my land. From the tiles in the orange ring, he can fork my 4 cities and he has a flotilla, incl. 2 galleys south-east of it. I have to assume there are 4 amphibious knights onboard. I'm also concerned about constant engagement of Old Harry in Gromace's thread. I didnt follow PB18, but I've read his thread in PB13. He was very creative and effective in warfare, using all sort of ambhibious, commando attacks.

And this is power rating, well... rolleye
I wonder what Seven decides. He can go after GermanJojo - 10 cities with basicly no risk involved (elephants wont stop rifles) or he can go after me - maybe a bit stronger, but already involved in a difficult war.

Quote:On T147 Grimace engaged (more units followed next turn). Hmm, it was a great place to strike tbh. Taking down Tabriz, in fact he takes 3 good cities and this penisula was the only valuable piece of land, except my core. I think I made a mistake here - should have placed this city 1 SE. It would be very slow at the beginnig (fish in the 2nd ring and no forests) but strategic reasons should go first in this location. It's my maoi city frown

Wouldn't that have just made the rest of the peninsula even more exposed, even indefensible? Sure it makes sense from a very defensive POV, but giving up that much (good) land so easily would likely hurt more then it helped, IMO.

Sorry Q, I totally missed your post. Well, maybe the 2 cities on the penisula would look more exposed, but I think it would be hard to ignore Tabriz and go for them. Tabriz had quite strong culture and I would have the possibility to make a counterattack into his land.

It's not gonna happen shakehead I had to go into full defence mode.

I also had two galleys loaded with with amphibious knights. These galleys were produced specifically for this purpose and they were able to receive Nav1 promo. I had two targets: FOX - Heroic Epic city and Giraffe - Maoi city (it also had 2 defenders when I last saw it). With a bit of luck I could take both, but it was not the case today.

I decided for FOX, it turned out to have Grimace's single General attached as instructor jive

I also considered this action in a bit bigger scale, cause it could succeed only once, but decided to show only two galleys. More of rhem could look suspicious and Grimace could have reinforced both cities.

Grimace upgraded his knights to cuirrasiers. I'm ok with that, it doesnt make a significant difference in my defensive situation. He still has to enter my land to have any gains. He also moved his fleet to one of the tiles marked in some previous screens, forking my 4 cities. I may lose one, but it fits into accept some losses, if neccessary category.

I found Seven's stack preparing to enter in GermanJojo's land. That's helping a lot, cause I dont need to whip so much just before GA.
You lost a good opportunity Grimace. I left you a passage to GJ, but you didnt want to use it. Now it is too late. [Image: Civ4ScreenShot0145_zps974c2ff9.jpg]

Just short summary - over the last couple of turns Grimace tried different attacks on my red-circled cities. I've managed to hold them so far. Grimace lost in attack: 11 cuirrasiers, 8 knights, 3 pikes (2000 hammers). I lost on defence random crap 800 hammers worth. Additionally, I lost 4-knight raiding party, that razed Grimaces Heroic Epic city. Considering his production is twice as mine, generaly the status quo is maintained... which itself is not that bad. Steel in 3.

I'm close to my fifth General. The Great Wall turned out to be a nice investment smile

I signed peace with Grimace and fired GA. Now it is a moment of relief and probably the last 5 turns of organized religion in this game, so I catch up with the most important buildings. Then mostly units it will be.

Gawdzak offered a defensive pact to Mackoti and he accepted. People usually sign defensive pact when they feel in danger, but this time it looks like an alliance against Seven, who got the lead after beating GermanJojo. There is a big gap in the city count right now, Seven got 42, Gawdzak 32, Mack 28. I can imagine, Mack is quite sour. He was in the lead for most of the game and now Seven got 10 easy cities. Mack's power is spiking, so he will probably want to decrease the gap. The potencial targets are: retep, me and Grimace (in the order of probablility IMO).

My expected tech path after Steel -> Teology -> Philo -> Nationalism -> Music -> Military Tradition.
I also considered going straight to Rifling (Printing press would be nice), but it is over 14k raw beakers and it makes little sense without Nationalism, which is another 5,6k beakers. I may not live that long wink

Ok, next time we might be allies. I don't bring emotions from one game to another.
Fortunatelly, I managed to find this game entertaining, even not fighting for the big prize.
