RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

Rome secures stronger allies, and his praets are burning a hole in his pocket. If he'd not been part of the COW, he'd end up with 1 more city by the sword (Seoul), but at the price of a number of praets and more time. And if he gets the pillage cash from 1 city, he pays for sending out his praets.

And I think COW has a problem.

It is currently T92. Kathlete would not be able to attack India until T102 (or T103, depending). Or Kathlete can telegraph that they'll be attacking before that time is up. And if Kathlete's attacking, then Spullla will know that they're really in trouble, because everyone's coming to town.

Oops. Maybe they could offer a cease-fire?

I really wish Jowy and Dantski would post more as these upcoming turns will be crucial to the success of the CoW.

edit: it = the sustained peace for trade route income.

Of snap! Athlete is really messing up here. Hopefully one of the lurkers on the COW side will offer something like "well a reload is probably easiest."

I really disagree, the 3 extra galleys (assuming he'd build one to explore the central island anyways) are a big cost and definitely not worth one city of cash. Even the accumulated unit supply costs during the long trek could easily outweigh pillage cash, especially since the cities Whosit is most likely to be able to raze are the newer ones close to the inner sea.

The diplomacy is nice, but with his immediate neighbors dead or crippled I don't think there's a huge benefit to Whosit getting involved in a more select alliance right now.

No, but - like everything else in the RBPB games wink - it's your 'fault' that they're in the CoW: your suicide city got AK talking to everyone (and provided a focal point to turn around their poorly played opening) and the net result was a (secret?) three way alliance of AK-Whosit-HRE within the broader CoW.

Sullla's already working on getting HRE on his side, but he doesn't yet realise that HRE is already plotting against him. His diplo efforts might reveal the truth before the DoW, but I'm not sure HRE will flip sides very easily given that they can probably take Dantski fairly easily without Spulla's help.

I thought the three-way alliance was with AK, Whosit and Jowy - Whosit has recently being debating how much of this to tell DMOC and Nakor and whether to let them in for a four-way alliance (with Dantski the clear fall guys as you say).

Yup, HRE is not included in the secret alliance. AFAIK it's Kathlete, Whosit and Jowy? Dantski mentioning it to them seemed to get them a little worried?

I guess the downside to backstabbing Dantski, it would likely earn the wrath of Whosit - which could be painful with all those praets and boats?

Why would it earn the wrath of Whosit?

It will be very interesting to see how Speaker and Sullla react when Athlete and Kalin really do declare war on them in a few turns. Even though this time really was a mistake, if I were Spulla, it'd feel like something shady was happening.
