Ok, I took Cre/Org after a chat with Fintourist in which he said it was basically a tossup (I had to have someone break the tie between my gut and retep's analysis! He didn't, really, but did assure me either was a valid choice, so I went with 'lurker's advice'. ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) Thanks to both of you). I am still a little disappointed in not getting to play Fin in a no-Fin field, but I do like this guy's style and I think he'll be good for us, especially for setting up seaside cities, as you pointed out, retep. Trivia fact: Zara Yaqob has the most cheap buildings in the game (library, theatre, colosseum, lighthouse, courthouse, factory). Plus he looks cool.

More things
- When you talk about agresive you mentioned that Heroic Epic + braaracks would help you to make amphibious units. This is no true, you probably were thinking of West Point.
-About Wang Kon, PRO is pretty much wortless in BTS so you would have only playing with one trait, and while FIN is better than ORG I think ORG plus something else that helps in the early game is much better.
-Funny thing nobody pick Wang kon since the guy that pick carthage will most likely pick an EXP leader.
-About the civs you have talk about I think China have the best combination of starting techs + UB/UU.
Byz- Bad starting techs and the UU is a trap, if you go directly for it you have a bad economy, if you delay Guilds then but the time you get it is not that good.
Rome- Fishing sucs as a free tech especially when you don't need it, his UU is only good as a defensive unit, to attack at the point in the game is better an HA rush.
Portugal- Overall is good but notthing really impresive Feitoras are kind of expensive to build in a time when the game may not last enough to paid for themselfes.
Spain- THe +1 trade route is a bonus that all Castle get, the benefit of the UB is the extra experience in siegue units. The UU is fine but it shoulnd really be necesary.
HRE- Bad starting techs, the UB is great although in a small map you may not get to build that many still pretty good if you can get around the starting techs.
-Tell Harry and Fintourist to spot by the thread! We are falling in post count.

Wowww I am in total newb-land this game, thinking the Heroic Epic granted experience, among other things. What has happened to me? Good thing you're here, retep!
Byz - good point about the opportunity cost.
Rome - this wasn't a serious suggestion, just, again, to point out with the techs coming so fast, even early, the typical 'this UU is a trap because starting techs' doesn't necessarily apply.
Portugal - that's a good perspective; I didn't feel bad about picking China over them, but this makes me feel even less bad.
Spain - see above about my reversion to newb-status (if I wasn't just stuck there already). ![smoke smoke](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smoke.gif)
HRE - Yep. Still glad we went for China; I feel those Cho-Ko-Nus could be really powerful, and the UB might make a back-door cultural victory more plausible, if for some reason it should come to that (not an important factor in the pick).
- I don't really want to burden FinHarry when they've got so much other stuff on their plates. Like I said, I did chat briefly with Fintourist the other day. I'm sure they'll wander in here occasionally at some point. ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) Speaking of chat, do you tend to use it for lurking or mostly stick to forum posts? If the former, we should probably exchange information (well, I guess my gmail's in the tech thread). Also, would you like the saves sent to you as well?

I was reading the tech thread and I couldn't figure the exact settings of the map.
I'm asuming quick speed, standar size, Monarch difficulty, is this correct?
Sure I would be cool to get the saves, my email is drope1341 at gmail, we can chat if you find me ![neenerneener neenerneener](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/neenerneener.gif) (I normally on in weird hours).

Retep, I'm going to get back on this in terms of simming, other thoughts, etc. as soon as possible - I've had a bunch of stuff on the go the past couple days that should be done after tomorrow. (I'd also like the little bit of extra knowledge the first turn or two's scouting will grant us before starting simming in earnest.) For the record, I'm not sure I'm going to do an opponent analysis, simply because I don't really know any of our opponents. Maybe talk about their picks, but that's it. We'll have to think of something else to catch lurkers' attention.
