1) Can we leave AL with just 2 units in it and have a reasonable expectation of holding? (either Spear/Axe or Spear/Archer)
Will check.
Quote:2) If you're moving units, make sure not to disturb the ones with fortification bonuses!
Will do!
Quote:3) Odd move with the Galley by Elum; I thought he should have been able to see our Trireme? The HA is intended to draw away reinforcements from AL/Fort and we need to respond; if we kill with the Spear, we can move the Axe NW.
He couldn't have seen it (water cultural borders only have 1 tile vision across water pre-optics)
Quote:4) That's a Settler! Legal plants are N and NE of the Mine only; what can we do to assemble an amphibious force to hit that the turn it's planted? (it will have 1 L-bow defense) Fort transport galley needs to move 2N on return trip to open that option; not sure about NW.
Forgot to mention the other galley :
I planned to moved it 2SE this turn to reinforce fort next turn., in which case Elum will see the Galley. But IMO he won't plant on the north coast as it'll always be a sitting duck and a mediocre city with no food resources. The Settler should be to replace AL after he razes it.
Quote:6) Can we afford to set AP & ZIF (maybe NB?) to build Gold? Adrien's front has been quiet for a while and maybe they can speed up Feud by a couple of turns?
Will look at it.
Quote:7) Exploring Trireme: Adrien's Galleys have moved this turn, right? If so, we can move SE-NW (back to same tile) and stay with them. I think that his borders will block us from further exploration anyway.
He's moved already, yest.
Quote:8) In the North, definitely block the passageway with the Trireme pair.
9) Agree with the map trade; we need to see Elum's other side.
Science is on for Feudalism. We can shave 1T off Feudalism via Wealth build at AP and ZIF to get it eot 137, or 2T if we also build wealth elsewhere (eg T135 &136 at TP and ZIF).
Proposed medium-term plan (whether AL falls or not):
GS pops EOT 9 turns. We aim to finish CoL by then, trigger Golden Age on the 10th turn and swap to caste. GA gets us to Bureaucracy and most of the GPP for the second GS.
Smurf is running an Engineer spec. By running 1-2 additional Merchant specs during GA we can get our 3rd Great Person there before the Golden Age completes, with ~60% Merchant, 40% Engineer. If Engineer we can hold in reserve to bulb Engineering to save our bacon from Elum's knight hordes, after researching Machinery and IW (both of which we will want to get out UU anyway). If Merchant we can either do trade mission at johns' or save for second GA or some bulb.
Sorry to disappear during planning session; my boss needed me to help him sack some of our colleagues; my Assistant Hatchet-man job now done for the day....
Plan looks good, and I do agree on leaving HN empty for the turn as the risk is minimal (really only if Elum has deliberately moved a Galley along his coast to hide it from us) and HN is less important than AL - and if we can hold AL we can probably retake.

Oh, forgot to mention that the odds for 2 defenders in AL aren't very comfortable so I moved a Spear in.

I hope you were more efficient at firing than these guys were:
Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon
