Sid Meier's Starships

TotalBiscuit has just released his WTF is...? of Starships. 'Ouch' is all I have to say.

"It's all so stripped down in every possible way that I can imagine that it leaves me completely disinterested in the subject matter and the game mechanics... what a shame. We have a company that is legendary for making complex, in-depth and interesting PC strategy games, and what do we get? A cop-out mobile port, frankly... something that has very little going for it and just isn't all that interesting."

At this point I don't trust anything with Sid Meier's name on it.

yeah. Starships is meh.

pay Y of X to get more X next turn. Starships lacks any interesting decisions/trade offs. even the choice between lasers and cannons is rendered pointless by the observation that in practice cannons do like 200% more damage. fighters are OP. did not use torpedoes, though. any replayability is absent in Starships.

the tl;dr version: 2 starhips out of 5 -> avoid this game.

btw, I suggested how to improve Starships here.
