[drone voice] Golden age, begun! [/drone voice]

Tense borders in barbarian/English borderlands! Okay, no, just a sensible little guy is our Fluggy.

I revolted my revolting barbaric barbarians into organized religion and hereditary rule, with a plan to add vassalage by the end. So...enough time to net Iron Working, if not Calendar. Iron is kind of needed for knights and chucklenaughts, so checking...aha! Got you, my ferric friend!

Ah what a meh little city she is, our girl Black Coast.

Going for knights, but upon sober reflection the giant island south shouldn't be totally uncontested. Yuri's settled for the pigs already (borders popped an are seen the next turn), and he'll get the river but there are two good cities on “my” end...the double-fish, sheep spot is on a hill and really has no excuse to not be out GP farm in the endgame, plus a more marginal one claiming a share of the sheep, the lake, and the incense ought to be doable. The galley is going back to get some setters/missionaries/workers/longbows...let's make this a barbaric land, eh?

Always, for all of us, there is an insidious still small voice that yells “Push!” The victors tamp that down.

Map is still hopeless and sadistic, whalefood. If it was completely untouched I actually would be fine with it, given the “go with the roll” original mandate, but you obviously spent time balancing capitals and resources, making the layout kind of egregiously trolly. Despite that comment, I have also clearly misplayed this open what with all the unimproved riverside around coupling with my dismal economy. Unforced error alert!

It has been a strangely quiet golden age here in barbarian lands. Our commerce is just kind of subpar, so we're only really just able to hit a single stretch target, Feudalism for the vassalage revolt. Demos reflect the dire outlook...given the golden age, I'd certainly hope to be tops in GNP and MFG but this is double-dipping with wealth and that crop out of Long-Term-Wang-Kon to the east shows who is really winning things. We endure, nonetheless.

We're winning right up until we ain't.

Clearly more slowing down is needed, but despite top power I'm actually very thinly garrisoned on each border (aka “every side”). CG2 Longbows will make that a bit better, obviously. Calendar will at least ensure all happiness needs are gone forever, and I'm swinging for the MoM up in chilly Cairn of Odin. Weird choke to the east says when the Knights Do Come (them or maces/chucklenaughts), we're going west to try and take the whole kit a caboodle. Good news there, as you can see Wet and Flug are finally bumping borders.

Jewish spread, at least, is excellent right now. Pity Theology is a bridge too far at the moment.

Much as the speed will help trying for an offensive war unto victory, really wishing we were on Quick Speed right now. Pindicator is in Overcommitment Hell and turns are slowing around the bend.

With the golden age winding down I swapped into Vassalage and have ordered a rash of longbows all along the front; the cattle have to be aware that the culling comes soon, I haven't exactly made my path unsubtle. I did briefly divert to Calendar; the MoM will be nice, or its failgold will at least more than pay for the brief swap. Sugar and spices, as you see here, await our workers, while out west the Picts tie down everything nice (Banana and Incense). Thus the barbarians continue apace, with only four more techs to knights. Now we just need turns to come in at a reasonable pace to actually get there this year. frown

Pindicator needs someone to relieve his turnplaying or his homework, let's get this on.

Just be happy you only have three neighbors, and not six.

Dude, if you're having that much of an issue find yourself a sub. My dislike of the map isn't precisely the same thing as me not having fun.

Anyway, the golden age has, alas, ended here in the barbarian state. Demos are right back where they were before...second to Pindicator in GNP, land, and crop yield, first in MFG, population, and power (with Pin in turn second to me), and not a whole lot of long-term hope. I note with grave interest that ain't nobody here interested in open borders with anyone else.

Aproval rate is good, which is bad. It's like golf, you should aim for the low score.

With only Metal Casing and Machinery still to go to unlock Guilds, I took a whiff and 1-turned the extra tech needed to unlock the knights themselves. In a good early(ish) blitz I've actually always appreciated having horse archers in the knight mix for maximizing great general points, rear-area sweeping, and general bulk roughage. So while longbows need to sprout on the borders a bit more, the middle cities will fill time between barracks and wealth builds by pumping out half a dozen HA too. 'least until it's Chucklenaught time.

Spices and sugar online soon...both are weaker luxuries, but still fine tiles to work and hey, bonus happy is bonus.

I still dunno who to strike, but I'm pretty sure it's going to have to be a strike westward. Pin ain't going to be much behind on the knights/maces/pikes mix, if at all, and can probably pump protective Janissary when I get stuck in. So, then, westward we look...let's get those Picts strong enough to be an anchor point for the line, what say?

Banana and incense are the calendar goodies over here. Great tile, worthless tile. Mmmkay.

Hmmm, why you think I'd want out of that game because of a comment like this? Have you been reading my thread? Or is this hearsay?

Besides, haven't quit yet, see no reason to start now.

Briefly: Because of the tech thread comment plus event log; no; no.

Aaaaand Pitboss 24?
