No, I meant Ameliancher...you were the one who always assured me you liked him, so I just assumed wink

Dreylin is player 1, so the order is:

Dreylin (Luchuirp)
Bob (Ljolsofar)
Dave (Calabim)
Auro (Illians)
Plako (Sheaim)

Damn, this is a difficult situation. Uhh, it can be countered to a certain extent, but is not something that will be relevant for the first 75t (at least). How about we let that period pass and then consider where you're up to in '43 - it may well be that the game is over then, after all.

Edit: to clarify, the Calabim spoiler has effects past v12, and still gives them a certain level of benefit.

Well as I've discussed with you in my '43 thread, I don't intend to go searching for it on the principle that I wouldn't even know to look for it if DaveV hadn't found it while code digging (although I reserve the right to use it if I stumble across it during the course of the game). But equally, I don't want to be handicapped in this game by not knowing something about one of my opponents that everyone else knows. I do however trust you to not let it become an issue, so I'd be fine with the "leave it a couple of months and then review the situation" plan if that's the best solution.

Meh, I'm okay with it being publically known. We don't usually deliberately obscure effective strategies, even if other games are running concurrently with the same civs.

Picks are as follows:

Dreylin: Beeri Brawl of the Luchuirp
Auroracher: Auric Ulvin of the Illians
DaveV: Flauros of the Calabim
Bob: Ameliancher of the Ljolsofar
Plako: Tebryn Arbendai of the Sheaim

I wondered if that would happen. Now I need to ask whether the "Calabim Spoiler" is something that can be countered by an opponent, because if so I will need to know about it or be hamstrung in this game.

What Bob said. The direct answer to your question is, "Yes, but not easily," but Q has made changes that eliminate the whole issue. So don't worry about anything outside the usual vampire arsenal.

This is not actually fully true, but it's better now.

Also, I don't mind Dreylin reading the whole stuff (if other '43 players agree I guess?). It's not necessary though as there's not that much info you'd gain if you knew it while playing '44; and I mean info that would be useful to you in this particular game.

Well the point is moot now since through the confluence of conversation here and events in other games I figured it out.

(Finally) updated the first post.

Could you give us an estimated finish date with the map, Q?

Tonight/tomorrow?

Map is currently 2/3 done, but I want to post it in the lurker thread after I'm finished with it.

So, ~98% done, posted in the lurker thread. Baring catastrophe I'll launch the game tomorrow, probably about 15 hours from now.

Here's some map info, because the stupid hacks that let you get it are simultaneously stupid and hard for some of us to wrap our head around:
* Toroidial.
* 36 by 36 tiles

Anything I've missed?

Also, you need to decide whether you want Starting Settler bonus or not. I've assumed not so far, and whilst the starting locations aren't prohibitively obvious, they're still reasonably clear that I doubt anyone will move based on more info.

What will be:
* Difficulty level?
* Barbarians normal/raging?

I'm indifferent concerning starting settler bonus.
