At least personally I would need to wait for PB18 to finish before deciding. I don't know if OH would be willing to play solo in any case?
Have/will you Brick be(en) responsible for randoming starts and combos? After the latest revelations of PB18 I'm afraid of GJ continuing his personal vendetta and prospect of committing for a long game that is directly designed for us to have a bad time is pretty discouraging.
You can be assured that Brick will be fully in charge of actually assigning players/combos as well as signing off on the final map.

I agree with no city trading, and with coding this option if possible
I would like a rule on the lines of "do not send trade offers you don't want to be accepted"
I don't have a problem with unit trading or gifting

That was admirably polite

FWIW I am fine with a no gifting units rule (which includes no GP gifts).
I have more of an issue with the trade diplomacy point, because offering a fish for clam trade can be assigned the same meaning as a fish for fish trade and I don't see how you ban those other than playing an AW game. Offering trades like iron for copper also have ingame reasons to be accepted which show the same meaning.

I don't have a problem with Fish for Fish trade, however I do not attach any meaning to it beyond what's in the trade window. So to me it's a pointless trade, but if someone wants to send this offer, it's fine, they certainly don't mind it being accepted

Iron for iron also has an in-game purpose. If you do it with a player that your enemy has not met, you can potentially hide the fact that you have iron connected.

My 2c:
I'm fine with cities being part of peace treaties, but the blanket ban is fine for a game this size.
Unit gifts are fine, IMO.
No issue with (non-spelling) trade offers for some kind of arcane signals, those fail hard more than they succeed. Just don't signal with cities.

If you can figure out how to modify what is and isn't visible in the diplomacy window let me know please.

Plako, if you can do that, don't just remove the cities, there needs to be some sort of city counter especially if there is no map trading.
