Game is devolving into a three player game with no tech trading and players on multiple continents.
I think that players fighting for the smaller portions of opponents on their islands may make the difference here, unless Com just eats HAK. Which he should have done 25 turns ago.

I honestly don't understand what on earth is going on with their war. HAK has posted multiple screenshots across multiple turns like this:
of Commodore suiciding like a dozen cannons into a defensive stack and then... following it up with no hitters? What? This isn't a one time incident either!

I honestly don't understand what on earth is going on with their war. I get the impression that Comm just hasn't been able to find the time to put as much thought into his war moves as he'd like, so he's largely just going by instinct, whereas HAK and Mindy have by contrast been able to put a lot more time and thought into their war plans.

That was my thinking too. Though that move in particular was damn expensive.
But it's not going to matter if HAK and Mindy insist on organising a dogpile on themselves.

So that's the third time that they foreclose the possibility of dogpiling Commodore? Or fourth?
The piece I really, really, don't get, though, is why they're ignoring Commodore himself here. He's not generally the sort to just sit passively. Either he'll ally with Donovon and HAK ends up on the wrong side of a 2v1...or he'll jump in as a vulture after they've done the heavy lifting, and grab half of Donovan for much less investment than they spend. Either way, I don't see how this gets them ahead.
It's one thing to race for conquest while your rival is busy, but it's silly when you're down to a 3-player game.

It might be the surest way to get 2nd place?
One turn after the attack Don concedes, while if they play on Don might take 2nd.
If HAK and Mindy agree 1st is hopeless, making sure of 2nd and at same time ending game quickly is smart, if they need to fred up time for other games/real life. Instead of plodding on with a (1%? 3%? 10%) chance to win.

That's what I thought too. Clearly if they had conceded and the lurkers hadn't officialized the concession yet it was because Donovan wanted to keep going. So the best way to make it end was a direct attack, which guarantees them 2nd place. I still haven't read their thread though, so this is just guesswork.

That was 90% the plan; force concession and retain 2nd place. If concession wasn't granted then try to grab all of those zero culture cities and try to get back into contention with Master Commodore.

For the love of fucking god can you please stop calling him Master Commodore. Even he hates it.
