FYI i consider sumeria to be the 3rd best civ in the game hands down. I was seriously considering sury but wouldn't have helped too much with the chokes either...

For a non-cramped, toroidal map, you might be right, except "hands down" seems a bit strong. Egypt, China, Mali, Zulu, and Rome all have something to offer (Rome needs a seafood start, and works better on a cramped map). I'd imagine that the Vikings would be a solid third on a water heavy map.
