I mean, the cluegivers see the whole list and have 2 other people to call them out if for some reason they weren't truthful. So if the cluegivers are quick to confirm guesses the GM isn't strictly necessary during a round in progress.

Actually, a cool variant would be where Spymasters draft words in secret. Too slow for IRL play, but potentially workable on forums.

The top pick for Asphyxiated would be Air...

I am thinking Belt, Swimming (drowning) and Undertaker. Gray (the colour you go when A.) and Headache (cause by A.) also seem possible.

I would start with Belt and Undertaker.

Hehe, yeah it looks like Psilly could have started with Asphyxiated (5). smile

Definitely Undertaker. Belt, Swimming, Gray and Headache also make sense. Let's think about the tense. He's saying Asphyxiated, not Asphyxiating or Asphyxiation. That seems to be aimed at cluing Gray rather than Swimming. Also, swimming is not drowning.

Maybe Undertaker -> Belt -> Headache -> Gray.

Does Drip mean anything stroke-related in English? One sense of the word does that in Norwegian.

By the way, is it just me who found it odd that Commodore clued Insectivore, to which Crow is a valid answer? Not sure what to make of that.

Yeah, I disinclined from Crow for now.

I thought of "Drip" in the sense of the drip they put you on in hospital, but that's quite a reach. Don't think there are stroke connotations.

Also, Gray might be "Fifty Shades of", in which case Belt -> Gray -> Film is also viable. But surely Undertaker should be in the first two words too.
