Here's a look at the Jowy experience. I was scouting him out, and then I said forget it and spent some EPs on him the last few turns to get visibility. The last holdouts ticked over to being visible after the turn, so I took a look. He's been whipping a lot lately to make himself unappealing along with upgrading, and I have to say the number of Rifles he acquired in such a short time is pretty well done.
Never let it be said the he's not defending this island.
Leaving the best for last.
This city is honestly one of the funniest things I've seen in a pitboss before.
Anyway, I'm going to leave him alone. Wading through Rifles is just too much.

Hi.
I just attacked and captured a technically-still-defended city using a 0xp Chariot in AD 1130. SCRATCH THAT ONE OFF THE BUCKET LIST.

Isn't Jowy is in Nationhood? Attacking someone, who is able to draft rifles, without truly overwhelming force, is a very bad idea.

Seen it.

Last 20 turns or so has been slowly losing to Scooter. He has amphibious rifles and 6-move galleons, and all of my cities are near coastal, so long term survival is nil. I moved back all of my forces into the city you will soon see featured, due to being on a hill and having good cultural defense. Basically, trying to make things as hard as humanly possible for Scooter to finish me quickly. Dying slow can actually be kinda fun if you don't care about the losing, I might add.
Here was an except of a chat when I was talking with a lurker about my super secret awesome plan last night; I didn't post it here yet because I rarely post and activity is circumspect:

okay
10:57 PM that unit list is my stack'o'crap in my capital
with some new and snazzy muskets making sure it's alive right now
i have those warriors and scout moved towards bluegrass, so if scooter thinks about/sees the chariot he thinks i might try a feint over there
but
10:58 PM those two rifles 3W1S of my cap
if they move together and leave a road open towards the west
i can move that chariot to take Sebastian Moran
and due to culture he can't get back in time that turn
enabling me to take back Kudzu the next turn
10:59 PM that's current master plan
And I open up this turn to see this:
I have a chariot. And an undefended former city 4 tiles away. You know what that means.
OH YEAH LOOK I GOT MY CITY BACK. granted, I can only hold it for 2 turns. But it's an annoyance for Scooter to go back and get, and I have the jovialness of saying i took a city from scooter in 1555AD with a chariot. Plus, unless he's close to finishing something or whipping something in Kudzu, I can take THAT next turn too.

Scooter wishes he was as good at Civ as I am.

So I was confused when I saw this. I didn't think there was any way Jowy was in Nationalism, but I logged in and... he just revolted into it like 2 turns ago and I missed it. I just assumed he's been whipping, not drafting.
So... how in the world did you know this?
But yes, with that the odds of me attacking Jowy anytime soon went from 2% to 0%. Wetbandit is an even more obvious no, so that leaves us with no real options. Peace it is unless an opportunity presents.

DON'T WE ALL.

On one hand, credit for remembering this, but nonono you misunderstand. The city in question was not undefended. Let's take a look.
I took a look this turn and realized after bombarding Fridge that I could actually take it 1T ahead of schedule as long as I lost no more than 1 battle. So I went for it.
Battle of Fridge Wrote:pinch rifle vs longbow: 88% WIN
c1 rifle vs musket: 71% WIN
cr2 mace vs axe: 97% WIN
9.2h sentry knight vs axe: 79% WIN
0xp chariot vs warrior: 78% .........
That's right, that chariot didn't walk into an undefended city - it earned its win with 78% odds.
Anyway, I lost 0 battles here. I did have a spare Sentry Knight had the chariot or some other unit lost, but the XP wasn't going to be as beneficial as staying healthy.
The win and receding of cultural borders means I will definitely finish off Dreylin's mainland on T175. On to the island.
Battle of Blender Wrote:1 Suicide Treb
pinch rifle vs musket: 74% WIN

pinch rifle vs musket: 76% WIN
c2 rifle vs musket: 74% WIN
c1 rifle vs musket: 70% WIN
4xp c1 rifle vs axe: 99% WIN
4xp c1 rifle vs redlined musket: 99% WIN
I then ferried in a few spare units from the mainland to defend this city while I advanced on Waste.
That should fall next turn (T174). Later in the same turn, TBS captured Grill.
So to recap, Waste falls T174, the last mainland city falls T175, and that leaves Bread Machine as the final city for Dreylin. He's almost free. He did advance his naval stack, so I decided to roll the dice a few times
Naval Battle Wrote:SOTL vs Frigate: 73% LOSE
SOTL vs Frigate: 73% WIN
SOTL vs Frigate: 75% LOSE
Frigate vs Frigate: 50% WIN (no idea why I did this)
I definitely would have traded a chariot loss earlier for one of those wins. Whatever, the RNG was favorable for the turn overall. I need these boats gone for two reasons. First, I've had the settler ready to resettle the ruins 2N of those boats for awhile now, but I need to be certain there aren't units on those boats. Highly unlikely, but it's a pointless risk to take. Also, I'd like to get my Galleons east of here to be able to pick up units from the mainland. I don't know what TBS is going to do in the aftermath of splitting this island, and I need to be mobilized to put them to use if necessary.
Meanwhile, Mackoti is definitely up to no good. He's been spending EPs on me lately. I'd really like to know why, but more importantly what he plans to do with all that gold. I think he's trying to build a bunch of overflow to get Communism + Kremlin, but I really don't know. Don't really care either as long as he doesn't get stupid with me.

I looked through all my T169 screenshots and was ALSO confused by this - especially since I know Jowy didn't revolt into it until T170.
Then I took another look at the T169 screenshots, and it clicked.
Glad to see somebody is paying closer attention to the screenshots than I am.
