Pre-Release CIV VI Discussion

Don't know if it's been mentioned but the builders seem to increase in price depending how many you've made? In the e3 demo, the first builder is 40h, and the next time the production screen is moused over, it's 44h. Weird. I'm trying to think of parallels but coming up empty.
There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.

So, 40 population capitals are going to be the norm or what?
DL: PB12 | Playing: PB13

Well a normal game would have 10 pop capitals. But Civ VI is a 4X game, so yeah.

They were going to make it a 3X game, but the ESRB was having none of it.

in the video linked by AndrienIer earlier at 10:27, the city overlay displays 40/26 housing capacity. the city is 14 over housing capacity. unless the housing capacity is a soft cap with mild penalties, such large cities will not be optimal.

btw, the whole video footage looks like a bizzare, cooked non-gameplay trailer rolf

An ideal strategy game would tone down efficiency challenges, while promoting choices and conflicts
No gods or kings. Only Man.

Fortune favors the bold.

I’ve just listened to some of the interviews with Ed Beach and checked what’s been announced so far, and I think Civ VI looks…really good. They’re stressing that modding is being integrated into the game from the start, so that fans can tweak as they want. The new USA looks like it will have more flavour and fun to play than any iteration of America before.

I’m excited!

Yeah after reviewing the interviews with Ed Beach and some of the gameplay footage, Civ6 is looking pretty interesting. I can see how spreading buildings across the map will add a new strategic element to the game. The art style is growing on me too - simple but very functional. Just a shame about the lack of unit stacking, but I guess you can't have everything. wink

http://well-of-souls.com/civ/civ6_units....units.html

"Starting in the Renaissance era two of the same unit can be combined into a Corps, which is less powerful than two individual units, but more survivable and takes up less space on the map (to reduce overcrowding). Later in the modern era, three units can combine to form an Army. The ability to form Corps and Armies are unlocked in the Civics tree rather than the technology tree."

So it's sort of like unit stacking. Watch people whine endlessly about having to fight off the AI armies with mere units.

That link isn't working for me, but that sounds like decent news anyway. Still prefer to avoid tile limits altogether though... probably the thing that annoyed me most about Civ5 was managing the "traffic jam" later in the game.
