TheArchduke tries his best not to be overrun again as Pericles

I went with the rather daring play of moving both horseman in range. One on the stone, the other on the encampment and one turning around in the north back to the south.

Good damage on the warrior, he should be killable next turn, and every horse has +2 support, the yellow one even +6 support from adjacent units.

If Oledavy wants to kill a horse for real he has to come out of the shadows to bombard them and I should be able to kill a unit next turn.

Trouble is, I have seen the worker and he is probably going to harvest a stone, which is bad news.

Maybe a bridge too far..

You didn't shoot the northern warrior? Why isn't his health showing? EDIT, line-of-sight, probably, the bastard is behind a wood.

If you moved the archer to where the hoplite is, he could have shot the warrior as well, also increasing the damage the horse dealt. EDIT as above, forgot line-of-sight.

Pushing both over the river at Lafayette is maybe ok. I would have probably used the other horse to pillage pasture. Why let him build horsemen if we can not let him build horsemen?

Also, I assume horses are promotable or close to it? If so, quite right to save these up to heal in the field.

Yep, saving those promotions.

I hope he uses the archers to shoot three times into the southern horse. It will give us a good chance to kill the warrior and proceed to take Lafayette. The worst thing is that it's tricky to put Lafayette under siege because of the river, zones of control don't project across it.

Is the tile the damaged warrior is on shootable out of Schuyler, or does line of sight block it? If it blocks, we probably want to do the following -- smash the warrior with the green horse, which should kill it dead, move the yellow horse all the way around Lafayette onto that plainshill east of the wheat. It's an excellent spot, next turn the horse can take the promo and heal. It's only disadvantage is that the horse will be briefly out of general aura, but that shouldn't matter given that it will spend the turn healing. The Archer and the general can move onto the stone hill for firing into Lafayette next turn. Of course, if on the way to the hill you see incoming hordes, use the 2 MP to fall back instead.

Lafayette would have been smarter, one horse is dead. Shuyler is instawalled, and one horseman ambushes our horseman after a softening up.

I kill a warrior in retalation, but this is not a good trade.

I will post something from home in the evening, but Oledavy ambushed one horse and killed it, I will regroup and push for Lafayette, Shuyler has a city wall.

Good news, Seoul is nearly gone, so he is fighting a 2front war.

Bad news, he is concentrating on this front atm.

Had to make this move from work, as it came in about 2 minutes after I was in the office.

In any case, we are definetly not out yet, but we made a bad trade of a horseman for a warrior.

I am confident that the encampment will spring up next, so we need to hold tight, push on Lafayette and get 1-2 more archers, horseman and a ram to quickly take down the encampment if it pops which according to Murphy´s law, it will.

I will however offer peace to Oledavy next turn for Lafayette. Let´s see if he accepts.

A sudden horseman! Nice move by him, should have been watching the power rating. Or did he harvest stone into it? If he has a horseman, 4 archers, and a warrior, and we have two horsemen, two archers, a warrior and a hoplite -- how do you actually see us making progress? Looks like a stalemate, and any offensive maneuvering will give him more opportunities to concentrate fire and take down another horse. Which is pretty much all he needs to do, even by suiciding a unit, as with one horse we are for sure not taking anything.

Not doing anything suicidal, no fear.

I just need to wait how Singaboy proceeds.

And take potshots.

Do not underestimate the GG, I still have an edge over him, I need caution however.

GG is a multiplier on horsemen, by taking one out he reduced the GG effect by 33%.

I wonder what conclusion this war will come to. Long-term his encampment placement seems to mean that peace is just impossible. But if it's impossible, there'll be a constant arms race on the border which will bring both sides down.

We also need to start building chariots to prepare for knight upgrades
