RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

From Jowy's thread, it looks like Slaze has really hit the whip with a vengance... Ikea fast assembly flatpack army?

Am very curious to see how that conflict goes. As I understand it, Kathlete is going to hit them on T155. Whosit was going to go in on T150, but fears Korea. Has changed his mind and is going to wait until a later point?

T-hawk Wrote:Not to start this argument all over again, but how did Sullla know that other teams were noticing and making an issue of Sullla's GNP position?

Because they got told so by their opponents themself (and later during the war by the lurkers too). To quote Athlete from here :

To answer your question "why?", there's nothing too complicated. We
simply "fear you are becoming too advanced" smile We'd rather not have
somebody become the winner in the medieval era. Helping Greece to slow
you down seemed only natural given that Greece probably can not handle
it by itself. Even if it goes your way, it will save us money from
unit cost wink Okay that's not great logic to then go and lose all those
hammers but there's a positive side to everything.

Sullla denied this to be a valid reason for dogpiling them then but seems to have changed his mind in the meantime.

Thank God for Whosit's thread. It is always good for a laugh.

Darkmantle Wrote:T-Hawk has mentioned it before, but a post of gold per turn at 0% science and beakers per turn on 100% science is a very convenient measure for the analysis of different civilizations strengths. None of you will be seeing this of course, but it makes us lurkers feel all warm inside.

I have? I think rather the opposite, actually - your apparent productivity at 100% science is essentially fictitious. You have to consider expenses. Doesn't matter if you produce 1000 commerce if 999 of it is burned on upkeep. High productivity at 100% science bears indication towards future potential, but it takes time and expense-reducing buildings (courthouses, banks) to realize it.

I think that was me smile.

If you know gold surplus at 0% science you can figure out the binary research duty cycle. That in conjunction with beakers at 100% science gives you the average beaker rate.

It doesn't say how a civ got there though, one could have more upside if they lack Markets/Libraries/Courthouses for example.

I should have mentioned that deficit at 100% science was also important but luckily everyone has included that anyway. The unfortunate thing is only Broker was researching a tech that no one had at the time, so the beaker numbers are skewed based on different prereqs and known techs.

I apologise for getting the person who suggested it wrong though smile

I've gone and started a spreadsheet to track the numbers and news just in. Spulla is back in a commanding position.
Code:
100% science    loss     science at 100% gold    100% gold   binary ratio gold/science
Spulla         375-Feud            173                                 170               0.98
Broker            238            114                             75               0.66
Whoisit           268-MC            135                             66               0.49
Kathlete       320-PH?          185              15                 76(90CB)         0.41
The crucial figure there I think is the 100% gold. Spulla have a fundamentally superior economy going with all the markets and courthouses and are ready to start pumping the military and zooming up the tree. Frankly I think we should be glad they got ganged earlier...

The ratio they can each maintain for binary research is particularly intering. Kathlete and Whoisit have ratios of 0.41 and 0.49 compared to 0.98 for Spulla. They are also about to embark on a military adventure requiring unit support costs in foreign territory as well as paying for new cities. It will be interesting to see how their economies stand up to that.

Edit:Thanks Adlain, I've edited it in.

Hows this??

In Korea's latest series of screenshots, it seems they can finish Machinery in 4t at 100% science. If I were in their shoes (of course, i'm spoilt), i'd ask for a huge loan to do that 4t and upgrade my Axemen from the ludicrously rich Spulland so I can put an early end to the age of Agg. Praets...
Question is, would Spulla agree to such a deal, since it would cause nightmares for Rome, and what would it exactly mean for Rome?
And would broker/plako ever consider such an option (I guess not, since the turn rolled over to 151 according to Nakor...)?

After Dantski signed peace with India I stated that the Game is over and I still stand to that assessment.

The interesting questions for the following turns is : How much help will Rome get from HRE and will Dantski attack them?
HRE is quite close to India in science/gold currently
