Gah, why do you guys have to start sign ups for another game before I finish PBEM4
Go ahead and put me down as a tentative for the moment. I really am going to want to play another game soon, but I need to mull over if I really want to do it or not. In the meantime, what are you guys thinking for the actual game?
Does anyone have in mind a concept for this game? I could be talked into a Pangaea, but I kind of want to do something that emphasizes water a little more (although, maybe not islands again )
I was thinking it might be fun to try a bigger game, like 8 reliable players, at 1 turn a day, but this might be hard to organize.
I'm also open to considering DLC civs if people want to try something new.

Initial thought was an inland sea map, wet, new, barbs, and water level depending on player preference. However I have rolled several maps and none of them have 'fair' starts for everyone. I am not sure what limits the map creator (cornflakes) can go to ensure some what equal starts.
Pangaea I think is easier to balance, not 100% sure on this though.
At this point we have 3 people with oledavy as tentative.
I was thinking a limit of 6 people, any more and turns may go over a day.
I am mostly just wanting to play and was thinking that the dlc's would be a something different.
I would be open to all players getting a ban and then last in turn order is first pick or each player gets a pool, does not matter to much for me.
Open to all ideas from any one who wants to join the game as well.

I did intend to dedlurk Chevalier this PBEM , but now he has withdrawn from PBEM 6.
And I am interested to test (broken) DLC at multiplayer game, so put me as a tentative same as oledavy since I am already playing PBEM 5.
Of course if more than 5/6 people are willing to join, I am prepared to step back to let others have fun too.
However if this PBEM is just normal civ plus Aztec, then I don't have interest to join and might dedlurk instead.

I guess my two questions here are
- are you using the fix for the fall patch when looking at these starts?
- what do you consider "balanced"?

I have not tried an inland sea script yet so I will give that a try
In the past (for me at least) it always clumps the starting positions of the civ / cs. If the map maker can relocate the starts it would be fine for me. I am not sure what they would be able to do.
I would consider balanced as each player
- has close to the same amount of land for expansion
- has a chance to first meet cs

List of standard civs ( removed france, spain, scythian)
1 America / Teddy Roosevelt
2 Arabia / Saladin
3 Aztec / Montezuma
4 Brazil / Pedro II
5 China / Qin Shi Huang
6 Egypt / Cleopatra
7 England / Victoria
8 Germany / Frederick Barbarossa
9 Greece / Pericles
10 Greece / Gorgo
11 India / Gandhi
12 Japan/ Hojo Tokimune
13 Kongo / Mvemba a Nzinga
14 Russia / Peter
15 Sumeria / Gilgamesh (missed it on first list)
16 Rome / Trajan (missed it on first list)
list of dlc's
Nubia / Amanitore - (removed on first list, archer are really good so figured ban worthy)
Norway / Harald (added since we are thinking inland sea)
Indonesian / Gitarja
Australian / John Curtin
Khmer / Jayavarman VII
Macedonian / Alexander
Polish / Jadwiga
Persian / Cyrus
Current thought is everyone gets an equal random group from standard list with one dlc added to each set to pick from.
Let me know if there are any civs that should be banned.

I am able to move starts in the world builder and will balance access to city states as best as possible.

OK then that should solve it.
Going to wait and see what others would like to do as far as civ picks.
3 people said yes and 2 are tentative.
I think we can wait until we get 5 or 6 confirmed then start.

After some reflection, think I'm going to have to pass on this one guys. I really need to wait a little longer before starting a new game - I'm at least going to let PBEM4 finish. Thank you for entertaining my 'tentative' for a couple days.
Best of luck and I look forward to lurking this one

If I had not said yes to the duel I would be game, especially to try out those whacky, unbalanced DLC civs.
