What is the maximum number of players that the mod can handle? I'm guessing it is more than non-duplicate leaders. Anyway, there are still six slots vacant to get down to 31 and 32 so keep signing up folks.

Also, Krill, I'm not expecting mapmakers to make any assignments for the map, whether revenge/popcorn/meta-game/new player status, based on anything other than RNG rolls in setup phase. That isn't how this game was advertised from the outset and I doubt very much that players would be ok with that.

my only real request for the mapmaker- less islands/navel stuff than what ive seen in previous maps. maybe im being a bit bland and out there for my first Pitboss, but id like a half decent chance at not getting stomped from the sea. Thanks!

That'll make the naval civs (portugal, carthage, Vikings) pretty boring... I'd like the map to be whatever the mapmaker thinks will work best for a ridiculous number of players.

Iirc the mod can handle 40 players Boldly.

Well, looking at a map like pb2 is what id love. A huge donut with 5-6 fair sized islands, vs a map with a ton of them. Maybe im speaking for just myself here but, id figure most of the other new players havent played much/any multiplayer where the ocean/sea based warfare was even present, let alone a big deal.

Now, for this many players its going to be a pita anyway, but thats what i would personally like to see.

To be honest, if PB18 and PB27 (our previous two Big Games) are anything to go by, most new players won't even live long enough to even see Galleons.  scared

Having water is pretty important in big games because it helps keep players more spread out in the early game, but then allows/forces much more player interaction later on. So there will probably be some sort of water on the map... but whether its around the edges, like Krill suggests, or in between large continents, like in PB27, or between many small continents, like in PB18, or something entirely different will be up to the mapmakers. Most players don't mind water, at any rate.

Gotcha. So long as im not instantly killed..
