Network Address Translation Negotiation. It is not optional. If you don't set it up people can't log in while you're connected to the pitboss server. And if that continues for long somebody (possibly in the plural) will probably declare a war against you to solve the problem.

Can I ask why am I not listed among the players? I definitely remember that I was there... If you assumed that I dropped out because of inactivity, it was not my intention. It's just that I have been busy and nothing was happening with the game. But I want to play if there is still a slot.

Chumchu is not playing a separate player, so I guess you can have slot 8.

It's hardly urgent, as I'm a distant fourth-stringer in OH's team, but I was interested to see if I could connect - I could. How would I know if I had failed to get the NatNeg working (I'm running the DVD version of the game, and have updated my hosts file)? Other than irate messages from actual players, of course...

I was able to connect using the modified .exe, although I got a warning "our game files don't match our host's." I then downloaded the steam beta version but wasn't able to connect. The game just went to the "choose a leader" screen and never advanced. I then went back to the regular steam version and could connect just fine. (And met Elkad. Hi Elkad.)
So, are the executable and the steam beta redundant and causing problems? Or did I get bumped and the time it took me to download the original files gave somebody time to log off?
