FC gave their votes for a cookie after the DEMs threaten to shutdown over the DACA. This is to make the DEMs look bad. It's very hard for them to fold on the DACA. You can say FC caused the situation in the first place by inducing DEMS but that's too advanced for the average guy.

With FC trading their votes for a cookie I think the DACA issue loses what makes it different from other budget issues. So the DEMs get a ride to 2024. The GOP thinks that they will be able to build bridges to minorities but they are wrong. You cannot compete with the lure of other people's money. You see this GWB failing and CONs in Canada failing (they can win elections with 37% of the vote because the closed nomination system forces the left to compete with itself but that won't work with USA's open primaries). It will take quite sometime for the USA to change to a banana republic because of Trump's shocking victory. I think the inflection point is when the DEMs win the presidency a third time in a row in a crushing way after passing a bunch of laws against a moderate GOPer (like Brain Sandoval, Charlie Baker) and they realize that they will never have to face a GOP President or Attorney General ever again.
They got the 51 votes (with Jones and Flake switching sides). They still have the weekend. PredictIt @55%. Trump might replace the FC as the roadblock with Stephen Miller's proding.

Goverment has offically shutdown. I messed up with PredictIt. The cash has ran out but the goverment can reopen by the 22. This would only be the first step.
Well it looks like the crisis is going to be pushed out for three weeks. Once the filibuster cherry was popped the FC doesn't matter--anything that can pass the Senate will easily pass the House. Updates:
Chuck offered Trump broader wall for dreamers. This was rejected. This looks fair to the average USA citzen but it isn't because the wall wouldn't do anything because the vast majority enter legally and then overstay their visas. I'm pretty sure that the GOP will get blame for this. So unless this is a plot to take over the country this won't end well for them. I predict the GOP will make a humiliating fold. A other thing that could happen is that the DEMs fold to avoid a takeover. |
