Maybe they're saving it up for Civilized Jewelers at Mass Media lol

If what was mentioned earlier, that they prefer fast wars, then I'd imagine one possiblity is to keep it in their pockets and use it at the war front to gain some tiles under their influence and thus move forwards quicker.

Don't forget that they originally planned to get 6 Golden Ages.

I disagree. A golden age would be much more beneficial right before a war. You'd rather have the golden age when your pop is high and you have improved tiles to work than in a war when you are presumably doing a fair share of whipping (which is not nearly as effective during a golden age).

You're absolutely right in terms of yield for their civ, but at the same time I wonder if the demographic spike of a golden age (especially if they get the Mausoleum) would hasten a dogpile forming. It could wind up like the early Philosophical Academy, a very good move for the game but bad for metagame.

Metagame wise, I think a GA with the Mausoleum now puts them in a position (as long as Korea sticks with them) where I think they could survive any foreseeable dogpile -- Knight + Pikes + Maces + Catapults + Longbows > Anything the others can throw at them.

Great update from slaze just in. Here is an interesting passage (my emphasis):

slaze Wrote:About that time sulla was "wrapping up" the jowy war, and I could much use his help having athlete need to plit his army to his other border (i had/have espionage in his cities and all of it was one archer each. I send my almost daily report to him about opponents research etc and in this one, I roughly tell him it's time to get after athlete and his response is for me to calm down. That he wants to develope the jowy land and he's concerned with maintenence costs and such. And I get this one morning, and I have it floating in my head all day and I come to the conclusion that this guys just gonna do whats good for him, no more no less. When we were discussing what was going on some turns back, I was under the impression that the jowy war was really a war against athlete as well, that they were the same enemy.
I have to run.

He's absolutely right, but Spulla does have a point - knocking out Jowy in three turns is pretty unreasonable.

Not to mention Slaze not going after Kathlete while India was getting dogpiled despite repeated requests.

I mean to be fair to Slaze on that front... He had only just taken over the Incans, and had an incredibly cruddy army.
