[SPOILERS] Charriu and Zalson are fighting the honorable post count war!

T77:

Shallow just discovered Iron Working. This just confirms that he's going to war.

War Wesley discovered another barb city in the north between Superdeath and Coeurva. I really would have hoped that those two share a border. Other than those two things the turn was rather uneventful. Unit production is starting and I've already gathered a few chariots from Siren.

One last thing RFS finally founded his 4th city. I do hope that he settled it around that pig to his north, otherwise he would just invite Coeurva to settle his lands.

The barb city that I found last turn is suddenly gone. It could be that Superdeath destroyed it last turn, but that would only be possible if it was autorazed. I will move Wesley 1NE to investigate it. It's also possible that Coeurva conquered that city, because he got his 7th city this turn, but not anywhere near us. Also of not are the promotions of the Impis, both have the same promotions.

I'm still in unit production mode and nothing more happened this turn, so I just give you an overview of my core.

Attack plan Lighthouse

I worked on my initial attack plan against RFS. The initial moves will start on T87 not T84 as previously mentioned. That's because I forgot that my galley from Magissa has to move towards Wing Raptor and can participate in T87. That's actually good because it allows me to increase my attack force to the following:

First Red Team
  • 1 axeman
  • 3 swordsman
Second Red Team
  • 2 axeman
  • 2 swordsman
Yellow Chariot Team
  • 6 chariots
Blue Galley Team
  • 2 galley
And this is the plan. I took mayor inspiration from Cornflakes, so most of the credit should go to him:

So first I put RFS vision in the map (green line). I tested it in World Builder and noticed that there was a mistake in Cornflakes plan. The star tile is actually not visible to RFS. I also highly doubt that he will get the 3rd ring before I attack. Here the detailed movement:

87:
  • First Red Team borders the galleys near Wing Raptor (blue triangle)
  • Second Red Team and Yellow Chariot Team wait on star tile.
  • Two workers move to the forest 1SW of star, if there are enemies nearby I will have to get some protection from the star tile. Note that RFS has not connected horse as of now. Should he have no horse till T87 then there is no danger of chariots
  • Blue Galley Team moves 2W
What can RFS see:
Only the galleys and 2 workers

88:
  • Declare war
  • Blue Galley Team moves 1W
  • First Red Team moves to corn
  • Workers build and finish a road
  • Second Red Team borders galleys
  • Yellow Chariot Team moves to 1NE via the new road. There will be a road on the star tile, just so you know
  • Blue Galley Team moves 1W
What can RFS see:
  • Galleys
  • Workers
  • 6 chariots
  • 1 axeman
  • 3 swordsman
89:

ATTACK hammer

Should the defense in Lighthouse be very low like one unit in T88, I may attack it in that turn with an amphibious attack with First Red Team.

Thanks again to Cornflakes. And while I'm at it also thanks to you too, Zalson, for the constant support. smile

Also here is the initial raw map for anybody to mess around in.

Glad to support, even if all I'm asking for is more workers.

If delaying 3 turns gives us 2 extra axes and 2 extra swords, I think that's worth it.

First great general goes for a chariot medic, yes? Or super-moving galleys?

I bet you RFS is going for stonehenge or pyramids with masonry. Ideally, he builds it right before we take his capital.

Otherwise, i don't see why he'd go masonry. I'd expect him to whip walls, so it might be worth it to attempt the galley snipe.

My concern is now that we'll be going up against a bunch of units with walls.

You might really luck out on the timing here. If Shallow is gearing up for war with RFS then you might be just in time to profit as the 2nd to pile on ... or it could be the other way around if Shallow takes his time.

The medic chariot sounds like the better long term option. I highly doubt that there is any way to reach Coeurva, Magic and Superdeath by sea.

Shallow whipped three times this turn. He might go to war pretty soon. If RFS gets DoWed by Shallow, RFS might ask for a crab for crab deal. I will probably decline that. It does sound that fair to me if I would accept and declare war the next turn.

The barb city in the north is no more. I suspect that Superdeath, who's border you can see to the east, razed the city. He really does not want to have a border with Coeurva.

Speaking about Coeurva, he signed an open border agreement with RFS. I think this is a mistake on RFS side as Coeurva get's a lot more out of this.

Shallow did found his 8th city this turn, but not in our direction. I don't know how he will handle the high maintenance cost at this point, but that can be good for us. I'm curious for next turns graphs and how his GNP developed.

Back in my empire just like the last turns, nothing special happened and units are being finished. I'm now first place in production. dancing

RFS has improved the pig to the north of him, so his 4th city must be around there.

Oh, boy Coeurva has stone near him, too. Great rolleye I will move Wesley back to my homeland in the next turns, so that he can stay in Wing Raptor for happiness.

I suspect that Coeurva researched another tech with good modifiers. It's also good to see that Shallow's GNP dropped below mine after he settled his 8th city.

RFS is working his way back in food, but it will be to late. I suspect that either Superdeath or Magic is also up there with us 3 food leaders, because I was 4th in food a few turns ago.

It seems like RFS did not build many units the last turns, which is good. And the 3 whips from Shallow did not correlate with an increase in power. What could he have build? Iiam

(August 7th, 2018, 02:28)Charriu Wrote: Short:
  1. Produce a chariot to scout north-west
  2. Settle at least that gold city and maybe the rice city.
  3. Produce more military
  4. Produce at least 2 more workers
  5. Build a library in Karlabos and work 2 scientist.
  6. Keep an eye on Shallow's attack plans
Medium:
  1. Conquer Lighthouse city from RFS
  2. Settle the gems spot
  3. Pop a great scientist in Karlabos
Long:
  1. Build up a defensive position near the gold, gems, Karlabos and the Lighthouse city from RFS
  2. Use the marble for some wonders
  3. Maybe build the Great Lighthouse and Collossus

So how did I do with my last goals:

Short:
  1. Chariots were produced and did scout the area around the rice
  2. I only managed to settle the rice, because Coeurva was faster. I looked back at my plans from before and at some point I was able to settle the gold spot in T69, just one turn before Coeurva. But even then it could have been very close. As a fallback I settled Galura south of the wine, which is not great but it at least secures me another happiness resource.
  3. I feel safe enough for now on defense and I started unit production for the attack on RFS
  4. I even produced 3 workers instead of 2.
  5. Yep, did that. I also finished a lighthouse in Karlabos, so the crab and lake tile will be improved. Especially the lake tile will come in handy, when I have to grow and get some extra commerce in.
  6. Shallow did not attack, but he could start attacking one of his neighbors any turn now.
Mid:
  1. I have a plan to conquer Lighthouse from RFS and am willing to go through with it.
  2. Unfortunately the gems spot is out of reach as of now, with the conquering of the barb city and Shallow's immediate founding east of the gems, it will be very hardto wrestle the gems from them. But this could also cause a war between those 2 in the future, which is good for us.

  3. I am at 45/100 for the Great Scientist.
Long:
  1. Although I did not settle the gold or gems, I have a decent defensive position in Forza against Coeurva and in Galura against Superdeath. I still have the option to settle blue dot against Shallow, but as of now it may be to costly.
  2. I don't see myself building any marble wonders in the near future.
  3. The Great Lighthouse could be interesting for me. If I conquer Lighthouse, I will have 5 coastal cities with RFS captial 6. I also find it unlikely that somebody else goes for the Great Lighthouse right now, because of the big landmass in the middle of the map. It could be worthwhile to build the Great Lighthouse in Karlabos, which already has a lighthouse.
I think the biggest challenge for the upcoming turns will be to conquer enough from RFS, while also securing a stable finance and keeping research on. On the long term side, the biggest foe is still Coeurva, mainly because I can't challenge his control over the gold just now. Shallow has become less of a threat, because he could be engaged with Superdeath over the gems or start conquering RFS first. So I'm thinking about the following goals.

Short:
  1. Conquer Lighthouse around T89
  2. Conquer at least another city from RFS until T100, either pig city or his capitol.
  3. Research Alphabet and produce more research for Currency.
  4. Look into building the Great Lighthouse in Karlabos and go through with it if it is worth it.
  5. More cottages around Exdeath
  6. Build or capture at least 3 more workers
Mid:
  1. Research to Construction to take RFS capitol if I need cats.
  2. Research Currency.
  3. Stabilize finance with a market and cottages in Exdeath.
  4. Maybe finish The Great Lighthouse.
  5. Secure the blue dot spot
  6. Settle empty land around RFS
Long:
  1. Build enough military to take the gold from Coeurva
  2. Research Machinery
  3. Prepare for the Praetorians from Coeurva.
